Product Review: Sard Downpipe + High Flow Catalytic Converter
Workmanship:
Look good to my untrained eye. Welds seemed very well done. Material seemed to be of high quality. No rough or untrimmed edges. A solid piece all round. Design: IMHO, better than designs such as the the Aussie DP due to the provision of the semi-separate entry for the turbine exhaust and actuator outlet which merge gradually and equally. My presumption is that this reduces turbulence and provides better flow. Cons: 2.83". I wish it were 3". Price (~$800 depending on exchange rate) Pros: Perhaps the only available performance downpipe for people who need to worry or care about emissions. That looks sweet! I had not heard of SARD offering this product for the MR2 prior to this review. Emissions in the US is becoming a much bigger issue for MR2 owners everywhere. While the price is on the higher side, it's probably less expensive, lighter, and more stylish than it's OEM counterpart, and with many MK2s getting alot more miles on them, this part may need to be changed at some point anyway. Thanks for the awesome review and images!

That is the most beautiful dp I have ever seen. It just looks so well made. I wonder how many are actually in existence?

I should add that the above Downpipe + Catalytic Coverter is only for the Gen 3+. It will not fit a Gen 1 or Gen 2 to the best of my knowledge. For owners of Gen's 1 and 2, there is another version of the above downpipe but it is basically just half of the above downpipe (i.e. from the Catalytic Coverter onwards towards the rest of the exhaust). From the turbo to the Cat., you have to use your standard OEM pipe.

Does anyone know if these can still be purchased? I'd need the Gen3 version.
