I drove a 1992 Naturally Aspirated car with these springs and it handled worse than my mom's Corolla.
I wouldn't reccommend these under any circumstance unless you need new springs and are on a strict budget.

these springs came with my shell. unfortunately i dont have much to say about them since the PO had them installed on blown oem struts
. one thing i could say about them though is that they had a nice low drop. i have since replace that suspension setup with kyb agx's & 94 turbo springs (which will soon be replaced by koni's & trd springs). |

I have had 3 sets of these springs on 3 different mr2's. I have had just about every spring and strut setup out there as well as many different coilover setups. I like the intrax springs. They are an in between the Eibach prokit and Sportlines. These are very similar to the H&R's. I don't know if the car Canadam drove had them installed wrong or what but IMO they are a great set up. Could be that they were installed upside down this would make it drive like crap. They lower the car the same as H&R's but ride similar to the Prokit. They ride smoothly over bumps. I have them on my car currently with the tokiko illumina's. I ditched my Cusco Comp2r coilovers for these and I am very pleased.

these came on my car when i bought it. I have 4 blown struts so i can;t really tell as of yet (stuts on there way) but I noticed something interesting the drop is sweet but If you go and look and feel them as the car is sitting normally, about 3/4 of the spring is bottomed out. On the back it's completely stacked! Except for about 2 1/2 turns of spring left. Same as the front it's stacked on top with about 2 turns left on the bottom of the spring. Not sure if thats at all normal or if someone put the complete wrong springs on. I was wondering why it felt like i was bottoming out on every bump...but that could be normal for the springs to look like that and just the struts funking up the whole show. I will see when I install the new struts this weekend...

Even after I replaced the struts it's still the roughest ride I've ever been in. I think it's because intrax sucks or at least everyone says they do. It bottoms out so hard It feels as if something is going to shatter all over the road. I'm switching to Eibach pro-kit and soon. I have the 2 parked till then.
![]() I'm pretty sure it's not normal. Either we got the wrong springs in the wrong box, a factory defect or intrax really screwed up. If you notice the travel left on the strut you'll see that the spring will bottom out before the strut will causing a big loss in travel thus the intense bottoming out we experience. Which is absolutely NUTS! When it feels like we just got dropped on a piece of metal it's because we just did! The only thing left to absorb the blow in the tires and our *** bone the bumpstop is not even a factor! Last edited by Jer_ry; 06-22-2006 at 12:24 AM.. |

this sucks. I wonder if the previous owner has the stock springs, maybe I can get them off him for the time being. I may just buy some coilovers.

I have theses in my car, and I like them, I think the 1.6drop isnt acurate tho, more like 2". For those that said they are harsh, what struts are you using...??? I have AGX's now, and that made them ride really rough, with the stock inserts it was a nice ride. With either struts, I have never bottomed out...

Just put these on and did about 100 miles on them. They ride great, firmer then the stock 93 springs, slightly firmer then the eibach's that were on my last car. I have new stock shocks on my car with new rubber mounts, so everything is in great shape. I can't imagine why people say these ride harsh, I am guessing they put these on blown shocks or something who know's but I am happy with them.

Lowered/Suspension Modified Cars Had Before:
1. 99' Toyota Solara [stock --> TRD springs & Tokico HP/Blues] 2. 89' Honda CRX [Tokico HP/Blues & Tokico springs --> $30 ebay coilover sleeves] I purchased the car with 133,xxx miles, when the original suspension was removed the shocks were for the most part were blown. The springs seemed fine to the naked eye. When I was on my search of a suspension, I wont lie, I was in search of the cheapest setup I could get. I waited around for awhile to gather all the equipment so I could install it in one day. I stumbled along a used set of springs on MR2OC, they happen to be a used set of Intrax springs for a great deal! For the shocks I'm running Tokico Illuminas in the front & KYB AGX in the rear. So if you didn't already known the AGX shocks are considered the most hardest ride even on the softest setting, the Illuminas are not far behind. But for the price I could not turn them down. After installing everything I took it for a spin in downtown Charleston SC, which is riddled with pot holes, rough and narrow roads, cobble stone streets, etc... The ride is stiff! The hardest one I have owned to date! Even on the softest setting, which I still have set to this date, months later. But I have got use to it, its not that bad anymore & I enjoy the cornering ability I have even with stock tires/wheels I currently roll. I don't know if It's the springs that are the main culprit or the shocks. But for what the car is meant to do & what it does even better with this suspension setup I'm happy with the Intrax springs. As long as your getting them for under $100 nowadays... |
