Time Attack!

Ran my first TA yesterday on the West Track at Firebird (Dezod Desert Showdown). It was only $70 to enter, and we got 2 - 15 minute practice sessions, and then ran the TA (1 warm up lap, 2 hot timed laps, and 1 cool down lap). Us novices even got an instructor for the first practice session.

Got lots of compliments on my driving and I was reeling in the other Novice drivers during practice, passing 2 at a time in the straight (only place we were allowed to pass) in some instances.

During the TA, they had us on the track (1.1 miles) 4 at a time spaced out about 10 sec. or so. I actually caught up to the Celica that was running in front of me. Luckily it was the last lap and he didn't slow me down any.

Out of all the classes and all the experience levels (including some instructors in full race set-ups), the best time was about 1:05. My best time on street tires was 1:10. Needless to say it was a blast and I'll be doing it again. It was hot as hell out there, but we had lots of fun.

Here are some pics taken by a pro photography crew that was there. I have one on there, #20, pretty boring though. I'll post up some video that a friend took from the paddock.

I'd be curious to see the video, see if I can spot any places where you might be losing time

I did put one video on youtube, but its from the paddock and not very good. An onboard would have been better. Plus the video I have is from the first practice run, and I was much faster on the second practice and the timed runs. Here is the video from the first practice run with the instructor.
