Lighting for racers...?

I'm looking at doing an "into the night" endurance race in a few months and need to address the woefully inadequate headlights the car currently has. So in a pure performance only situation - street legality, style, glare to people coming the other way, low beam & high beam, etc does not matter - what kind of options would you guys look at for the Mk2 headlights?

I *can* add some extra driving/fog type lights anywhere at or below the level of the bottom of the windshield, but I would like to try and take care of my needs via the headlights only to simplify wiring, switches, etc. Low rise setups could work but it may not be allowed for my race class (could be construed as modifying the aero of the car - not allowed) so lets cross those off the list unless that really is the only option.

I would love to have something that would be hard to outdrive at ~120mph or so.

Thanks!!

HID Lights? High Intensity Discharge or something. I think you can get kits to put them on any car, dont know much abotu them tho.
I would go straight to driving lights and just run a rought and ready wiring set up with a switch inside.

Just go with a HID kit, even though I heard you need to get a H4 housing or something so they can shine right, with HID the lighting range is increased and the floor is more visible/clear to see

Other than that I'de get some foglights

There's a thread somewhere in this forum that gots info (HID come in different densitys that make different colors, I suggest to go with the bluish white which I think are 7000's)

I like night racing. I have done it once and it was damn cold but having the heater on just helped cool the engine

This is my road 2. I had broken foglights but I needed to fill the hole so used 4x4 lights modified slightly. They are 60W each so are basically as powerful as stock headlights but with the headlights on as well this thing really lights up everything on the road, useful for night cruising.

Also try swapping the bulbs with some of those bright white/blue ones. I did on my mkI because the OEM ones were pathetic.
