5vz-fe questions

Do you guys sell con rods for this V6? and at what point do they need them? How far will race preped rods, your pistons and ARP studs take you?

I have a 1972 RA20 Celica project car.. and Im thinking of using the Tacoma motor.

Any links to some high power 5VZ's? I would like to make 700WHP (turbo built motor and AEM EMS)

(I also have a 511whp KA24DE in a S14 that runs 10.9 @ 126mph... so I should be able to make some good power with a bigger V6 I hope )

Thanks for your time

I sell pretty much everything for all toyota V6's

There have been no real high power stock bottom end 5vz-fes out there...most speculate that the rods are good to around 400-500whp while others have already tested them to the 400whp mark already with no problems. Nobody wants to push the envelope just yet on a stock motor.

If you need rods yes i do carry pauter rods and they will take you to 300hp PER CYL same for the pistons.

If you wanted a standalone too i work with the hydra ems which is 90% plug and play with the 5vz (not 100 just because its not installed in the ORIGINAL vehicle so some wiring is still needed)

How much PSI you looking to run? Just determines the CR of the pistons that you will need.

I also can get regrinded performance camshafts, valves, valve springs...soon headgaskets as well.

The 3.4L would yield HUGE results because of the displacement...i love the 5vz-fe to death :P

I dont know what i will run for PSI but I thinking of a GT35R (have a spare one) or a GT37R the 35R would get it up to low 600's the 37R would get up to 700ish... so im thinking 35psi or so. 8.5 or 8.8 to 1 would be nice.

What comp ratios do you stock?

I would like to think the stock rods could handle 100hp per hole... the KA rod hold about 125hp her hole. oh well. Are they forged stock?

Im still looking at what motor I would like to use, a V6 would be nice for the short engine bay. I still have some time to think while I build a 10point cage and back half the car. (i do alot of tig welding and tube bending work / custom turbo fabing)

Well hat eto break it to you but your power goals with those turbos are a little over estimated...the GT25r will NOT yield 600hp with a 7500rpm redline...the 5vz-fe will need 70lbs of air at even 23-24psi...the GT35 runs out of steam...now going to 35psi that would be even MORE airflow and the GT35 would be crazy small for a nice flow....for what you want just go with a bigger turbo, you will have to deal with lag thats a given but it will at least yield you the results your looking for without dieing in the top end.
I have to run now but i will work out some compressor mapping later on if i get the chance....check out the v6 section as there is lots of discussions regarding turbo size...a recent one that Johnny_G started with some good info in there.

Humm lots of 4 banger guys make over 600whp with the GT35R. I made 511whp with one .63 AR on 29psi and a crappy tune. and a ford auto sucking some HP.

but a V6 might be different. your right.

here is a link to my car

how did the dyno go? and what was the engine size? The GT35R will make power but not effectively and not till redline.

its a 2.4L and its red line is around 7500rpm

the dyno went well, i had stock cams at the time. People make 600+ with this turbo on 4clys all the time. I have also seen a 40psi boost spike @ 7000 rpm with this turbo (data loged on my AEM)

but i thing for the bigger 3.4L i would go with a T4 frame..

On the subject of big power 5VZ's... this is the best one I could find 811whp and 131mph in a 3800lbs truck

http://www.dragtimes.com/Toyota-Taco...slip-9112.html

any other good links?

There have been no real dynogrpahs to prove any huge power vehicles...i have yet to see one of anything over 500whp....I have several customers who are in the works to build big motors but nothing completed...so its only a matter of time before we start to see some good numbers show up!

LB
1500-16.123630008
2000-12.05285906
2500-17.14894118
3000-24.74446411
3500-33.72856528
4000-48.54469503
4500-62.11110436
5000-69.01233818
5500-75.913572
6000-82.81480582
6500-89.71603963
7000-96.61727345

This with full boost of 35psi at 4500rpm ish (just a relaly rough estimation) and 100% VE (rare but you can just take off between 15-20% on some cells to give a more conservative figure.)

3.38 is the PR of 35psi....

as you can see its not even on the map....that pressure ratio sucks for that turbo!

This would work

That tacoma is making some crazy power I bet it is about 4100lbs with driver and all that turbo junk... and the drag of the 4WD system + the thing is shaped like a brick. 131MPH is crazy.

fro wiki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_VZ_engine#5VZ-FE
"The 5VZ-FE also continued the 3VZ-FE's trend of being far overbuilt for its intended application. A handful of built versions exceed 900 hp (670 kW), and some stock engines can produce 450 hp (336 kW) or more"

where are these 900hp 5vz's???

^ Toysrme wrote that...and again, there is NO dynos proving none of the above to be true....

Even the guy with the super fast tacoma...is there a video of the truck doing that? Or is it just a guy in a truck with a turbo on a dyno....there are several 300+ turbo guys out there and sounds a lot like it.

Not saying that it is completely BS but i dunno i am still waiting to see a proper dyno of any high hp 5vz...which sucks because i know the engines will do very well

I'm curious why the GT35R would be a poor choice... you CAN get it in a T4 frame if necessary.

If you've got a 7000RPM redline (assuming you've got the springs, retainers, etc upgraded and an oil pump upgrade), what's the point of putting a 42R on there that doesn't make full boost until 4800rpm? ~2k rpm of power? I thought the whole idea behind going to a 3.4L V6 was for LOW END grunt...

Search youtube for "amuse supra" ... it's a 3.0L 2JZ with a GT3071R on it... TINY turbo for that application but listen and watch how the thing squirts like nobody's business. It's a midrange MONSTER. A 35R is quite a bit bigger than the 3071R as well. What do you think?
