I just took it out and redid what I could without actually pulling the steering gear apart. I removed the boots, inner tie rods, steering rack bushing, cleaned it all up using a lot of rust stripper...

I did it as well, worked out perfectly. Only issue is it put that bit of extra stress on my stock struts and they started showing their age :(.

Maintenance mods are a good start. From there you'll probably wanna do wheels/tires, springs, struts, bushings, sways, etc.

The Camry was offered in both standard and automatic with the 5SFE motor. I only know this since I owned one. It had a used motor swapped in right after I got it, but I didn't do it, so I can't tell...
