The money in the wing conversion is dealing with the mounting holes. you'll have to find someone to weld the holes, repaint the quarter and layout the holes on the trunk (or just buy a 94 trunk lid, pre-drilled. Not sure what the wing and lid would could ($150-200? each) and add the labor in the q-panel work. I bet it could be $750+ before you know it.

I've never done it but I've read about it and could imagine. you wouldnt have to repaint the whole car but if you have any paint fade, it might be pretty obvious (eg. super red).

I owned a 91 for 6 years. I've had this 94 for over a year now. I look back at some of my old 91 AMP pics and I kind of miss the 3 piece wing. Of course it would never look right on my 94 but most would agree that the 3 piece is still baller.

just my opinion.

What do you think? Worth doing it? I really really like the 94+ wing.
I've done it on a few cars. I will tell you right now that if you want to shave the holes on your trunk/quarter panels, you will have to repaint your quarter panels (and clear the roof part too)

You're other option is to use a plug to fill the holes and paint them to match your car. Just filling them and painting looks way better and if your paint isnt in bad shape, you dont even need to paint the entire car so it looks original!!!

Any picture?

Using the plug to fill the hole seems to be a good option, does anyone has a picture to show?

A 94+ wing with the trunk cover seems to be a good combination too, meaning the whole process is reversable.

Thanks for the input..... guys...

Cheers

I had 6 wings sitting at my brother's place in Cali before I sold them (DoLuck, TRD Replica, 98 Spec real deal, Veilside, GReddy, and a 94), 2 at the shop (3 Piece stocker, and replica modified Origin FD), and 2 at my house in Colorado (DoLuck, and Pharaoh Speed)

What can I say, I'm indecisive

So, has anyone done the wing conversion using the plug method? I'd really like to see some photo of it.

no actually I think Im one of the few who actually like the 91-93 tails better but I just want to get the lenses looking cleaner and don't think its worth the price (350-400$$$) but I wouldnt mind taking the amber and tinting it so the tails are all red. I just wanted to know if I should buy a trunk lid for a 94+ so it will fit better or what I should do for proper installation

Anyone talk about weight? I was shocked when I had my 91 3-piece wing off. It's heavy! You could probably drop your 1/4 mile by half a second if you took it off!

Hmmm, is it possible to retract my '94 wing vote?

I think I really like the Kaminari wing a bit better, what a gorgeous wing - looks great on stock body too. I saw one similar to this one up close the other day, that Kaminari makes me feel all tingly inside.

kaminari is definetly nice the first one I saw I mistakenly thought that it was the 94+ wing but I do think that its a little to high up imho. but it is probably a little bit cheap
