Update: 91 Custom Widebody

Continued from:

Almost done!

OK so im starting yet another thread. Here is what ive gotten done after i took it out of my painters shop because he was being a dick about everything. Ive painted all the body parts now. Everything turned out good excpet the front bumper and the trunk lid. They were the first big pieces i did, and my spraying was horrible to say the least. But i sanded them down and theyre getting 2 more coats of color anyways so its not the end of the world. Everything else is perfect. Sanded most of the orange peel out of these first 2 color coats. Im going to apply 2 more coats to everything and then sand that and then the clear goes on. Then its wet sand and buff time. The spoiler had turned out amazing as well, but hahahahahah, i was checking it out in the sunlight and dropped it. The paint got All kinds of messed up and now i have to sand it down and redo it. I test fitted everything today on the front. Its looking good. The bumper fits PERFECT. Im going to need to adjust the hood a bit though. I just set the headlight covers up there. Here are the pics. And dont say anything about the bumper, as i already know that its no bueno.

It looks amazing. The best job is one done yourself...or by someone you trust with your kids. haha. The progress is just awesome to watch. I can't wait to see the finished product.

That's cool, that's the first time I've seen someone do that. I bet its a look more forum fitting to your bumper than the regular solid side moldings too.

Update:

Ok so i have officially completed all of the color coats on everything. Just did the body today. It all turned out great too. Im impressed considering just 2 months ago i knew nothing about actual painting. Im going to start clear coating the small stuff next week. Hopefully i get in enough practice before i clear the body. Im keeping my fingers crossed that it turns out good. After that, ill be learning how to buff/polish. Sorry this thing is taking so long, but i like to learn and do things right, and i cant do that by rushing things. Pics to come!

Update:

Ok so here are some pics of the body after i finished the color. It has not been wet sanded or clear coated yet. Ive started clear coating little things first to make sure im capable, and have had plenty of time to perfect it before i do the body. Ive done the gas lid as seen in the photos. Sorry that everything looks orange, its the lighting and the camera. The color isnt actually orange at all. You can see what it really looks like in the first pic of the gas lid. Thats because thats the only pic i used the flash on. The other pics i turned it off so that you could see the reflectiveness of the surface. After ive clear coated everything, im wet sanding and polishing it all. Im impressed with how its turning out so far and i hope you guys like it. Pretty good for a beginner i say. Now lets just hope the Hurricane hitting here tomorrow doesnt destroy the car, which i sadly feel that it will. So maybe the next pics will be of it destroyed with a paint booth collapsed on top of it. Enjoy for now:

Off topic, but... Can you fit 235/40/17's under your front fenders?

Good luck man. I hope it wasn't ruined in the storm! Your project has given me a lot of motivation to finish the body work on my car.

Just look at the pictures in the thread link provided in the first post. The car is extremely unique. It has alot of custom work done to it.

Custom:

Front Bumper
Rear Bumper
Spoiler
Engine Lid
Front Fenders
Rear Fenders
Side Vents
Mirrors
Used to be a custom hood. Replaced it though.
Alot of work has been done to this car. Its almost finished too. I finally got it running correctly just today! Ive got to finish wet sanding the body and then buff and polish it. Then re-assemble it all. Not much left, but with work right now, im not left with alot of time to work with the car.

Body has been Compounded. Every inch of it....no wait...haha, i just now remembered that i forgot to compound the sides by the back glass. Damn! Ill do that tomorrow I guess. Im polishing tomorrow. Then the 3rd stage of polishing will be done sunday if all goes well. Im doing the 3 stage 3m Compound, polish, and Swirl eliminator. The SE 3rd stage works Amazing, but is EXTREMELY hard to perfect. Its all good. Once the paint has fully cured ill be adding the Blackfire- Wet-Ice over fire to it. Ill seal it and add the 2 coats of wax. What sucks about this whole Body and Paint project, is that even after the hundreds of hours spent straightening out the fiberglass and trying to create a perfectly smooth flawless paintjob, Ive still got A hidden type looking orange peel from the fiberglass and CF on the car. I guess it would just take too much work to create the perfect surface I want. Anyhow, Car should be done soon, LOL, even though Ive been saying that for months now.

He is painting it Ferrari Rosso Corso Code 75250 OEM Code 2,31191,322. The pictures did come out a little orange though.

Anyways, nice work. You've spent a good amount of time on this already, perfection usually takes longer than expected. Really nice work. Eager to see the final product.
