See, I like this thread. I've wanted an 86 mr2 ever since I first saw one, everything I've ever learned about them just made me want one more:
other than the fact that I am unlucky. I've got absolutely terrible luck. Even on the road, people will run red lights just to smash into me (my current totaled car is a good example) I'm still getting my mr2, but I fully intend to add a type of cage. Not a rollcage so much as a... second frame cage. So that when soccermom or uncle billy in his f250 (I live in Maine, not 20 mins from here you start to see billy joe with the tree-trunk bumper driving around) decides that my ride is just a minor inconvenience between where they are and where they're going, I don't get chopped in half, mid-chest. edit: Other than the slightly oversized tires, that truck appears identical to one my brother totaled last year in a head on collision with a soccer mom. Guess who was at fault? She had a *dog* in her *lap*, talking on her cellphone. hit a pothole going a bit too fast (early morning, could have been frost on the roads still, and the roads here are in BAD condition in the winter) and crossed over the center. He couldnt quite get out of the way, and his truck got smashed right up. I cant find the pictures of his truck right now, but the engine had partially disengaged from the transmission the front end was so smashed in. If a soccermom does that to an 88 gmc, she'd go halfway through an mr2. I'd hate to think what would happen if the gmc hit the mr2 head on, it'd go right over the top cutting the driver in two. edit again: Just had to find it.
