Looking at the exif data on one of the photos:
Nikon D2X, f/4.2, iso 640 (Odd number...) 16mm, but 24mm equiv (for you film users) meaning its a crop-camera, and it looks like it was touched up in photoshop, cs2. D2X is a hell of a camera, higher end than either of my canon dslr's. Can't seem to pull lens data, cs2 may have stripped it, or it may be the beta OS i'm using giving me crap. I'm surprised that it's not a full frame sensor, but I think I heard the d2x used the same CMOS type 1.6x crop that the canons use, but the 12mp version... so similar to a 40d or some such. Definitely an impressive camera, makes me want to go out shooting. |

Ok, I will jump in.... The black one is mine. We are going to put Ben's illuminated MR2 plates on the back, but have not gotten to it yet with proms and graduations to take care of, but after this week we will.
I just picked up the black one it only has 50K miles on it and is stock in beautiful condition. The camera is a Nikon D2X which is a 12mp camera. It does have a crop sensor on it, the new D3X by Nikon does not have the crop sensor it is full frame. I was going to pick up the new D3 or D3X for about $8K and a new 200mm - 400mm zoom lens for another $4K, cause I had money burning a hole in my pocket. But I picked up the Black MR2 instead and gave the orange one to my son. What a nice Dad. No regrets, I can get a new Nikon any time, how often do you find a great car? Not much touch up done, just some cropping and a little unsharp mask using Light Room 2 and PhotoShop CS3 then covert it from RAW file to a jpeg for the web. The lens on the camera for these shots is a Nikor 14mm -24mm F2.8 it does great in low light, but it was getting rather dark at this location, so I did boost up the ISO to 640 cause I didn't bring my tripod with me and I prefer existing light over the flash. The picture of him driving down the road in the orange car was taken on the way home from the shoot, while he was doing about 80 down 95 in MD. Which means I was doing about the same speed while holding a 15 pound camera over my left shoulder and driving. You can just see the glare from the flash going off on his fender. Not the smartest move, but the shot came out great. Thanks for the comments on the pictures. |

Next time you do still shots, look into exposure bracketing and photomatix. I use pro, and it cost a few bucks, but google image search will show you some sweet HDR shots you can do with it. you'll need a tripod, but the end result is worth it.
Once I paint my car I'll wind up doing some hdr shots of her ![]() |

I have done a lot of HDR work, but didn't think about it or set up for it because he walked in the door and picked up his sisters point-and-shoot camera and was going to take some pictures like that of just his car. I grabbed my camera rig and invited myself to follow along. I was not sure what I was getting into with regards to location, so I did not do a complete setup. Going back to that location and setting up for HDR is a great idea. We will have to do that while the weather is nice here.
Thanks for the thought. I will have to post the HDR shots on my Nikon web site as well. |
