Shine Auto Project Greddy Style sideskirts

My sideskirt story.

After being ripped off (Never received item) and never having my money returned by a member after a slew of excuses and drama, since February 2009 - XLR8NMR2 on mr2OC // PhatboyMr2 on MR2 - I decided I would only trust a business from now on.

So basically I am further investing TWICE into having sideskirts now.

I chose Shine Auto Project since I know others personally who have their products on their cars. Called to confirm that the skirts were in stock last week, was the last pair in stock. (Notice they're aren't on ebay much these days, don't make them as often anymore I assume)

Emphasized that I was a serious potential buyer when speaking to Ken of Shine Auto, very nice person over the phone. Made payment late night, called the next day to advise Ken of my payment and the part I was inquiring about before and they got on the ball. I called that early morning and had a tracking number by that night. Received the skirts within 1 week.

I am very pleased with the result. The fit looks promising as always with their parts when I put it up against the vehicle so I cannot wait until they get finished at the paint shop.

Their appearance upon opening of package was typical as expected, it's not fully glossy as advertised but that is no worries, they are sanded/primered/ etc during paint process anyway.

Summary - Good service - Make phone calls to confirm and maintain payment communication - Received product in timely fashion (Within 1 week). Good buying experience for sure.

I'll update once they're on this:

Someone told me that if you want good replica fitment then go with Shine Auto. How much they cost you shipped.

They are nice.. just be careful when fitting them that you have the threshold area taped down temporarily before you stick them down with 3m molding tape. I made that mistake the the bottom of my door caught on the lip of the skirt, and creased it.. so I ended up sellig them, and using the authentics that I also had.

Also, just like the authentics.. the top bolt holes behind the front wheels don't quite line up.. and need to be a litte enlarged, or drill in the correct spot not going by the impression made by the mold. If you do drill by the impression.. you will just have to enlarge the hole a bit. Just don't make the hole larger than the head of the screw.

Your car is black.. so make some clear film templates out of 3m stone guard to put behind your front wheels.. or the paint will chip heavily in that area. And, you will see the primer if you don't do that. I know I drove without doing that just 10 miles and had a few tiny chips. So, I immediately did the stone guards, and it's great now.. no chips. Just took me a long time to make the templates... so do it when the skirts are off the car.

tksmr2 - Thanks for the tips, will take note.

timbuck - All together for the skirts+shipping (in the US domestic) it was $355.

If you inquire about them though I highly recommend calling and personally speaking with someone to confirm they're current availability.

That looks great.. those wheels suit that car perfectly.. Is it lowered a bit, or stock height?

It bolts on from the inside by taking off the interior panel were there are a few 10mm deep well nuts. It also bolts in front of the wheel with a bracket supplied by Greddy (which does not come w/ the Shine skirts)... The rest you just use double sided 3M molding tape..

What tksmr2 said, and put a bolt on the back side, you can barely see it in the pic.

This is a pic from when I was clearcoating the front and rears to help prevent rock chips on them. I put a good solid amount of coats of duplicolor clearcoat spray on them.

Fronts mounted.

On car.

In this pic you can barely tell where I used rivets on the inner edge to hold them firmly in place. I used Duplicolor touch up paint Toyota 202 to cover them to look not noticable unless you specifically look for them.

Hmm.. I'm pretty certain that clear coat won't help against the rock chipping. I'm also certain that when, or if you do get them painted, they will have a clear coat on them.

In the end.. it shouldn't matter b/c these are shineauto pieces.. and they are black all the way through, I think.. so even if they chip.. you won't see it unless you are an inch or two away from it, staring at it.

I have the authentics now.. and they are white fibreglass... so the 3M stone guard film was necessary in those spots unless you want white chips to show up really quickly on black paint which isn't too nice.

I also dont' know why you used rivets.. thus putting holes in your orginal rocker panels when you could have just used a 5-10 dollar roll of 3M molding tape that works just as good..

You also don't need that rubber strip behind the front wheels on the skirt. That is for the stock setup, and is not needed. It's just an eyesore IMO.
