How I spent my day off...

My $75 1986 Super Red MR2

And my girlfriends $1800 1986 Jade MR2

Mine has abit over 150,000 miles, and a recently replaced engine, and some rust.

Hers has a hair over 75,000 miles, is nearly all original save for the paint and is FULLY optioned from 1986. We have the window sticker, everything from a working cruise control stick, to the leather package.

I live right in front of a grain mill, in the country. We have no trees, so I have to find shade where I can,

Here are the cars in the shade all waxed up,

And here they are all buffed out,

And other than washing them and vacuuming, I havent done much else. Just thought I would share...

Nope did not forget a zero. It was sitting in front of a barn in the middle of nowhere. When we found it, it was buried in snow. We thought it was an MR2 and asked about it. And elderly couple owned the property but not the car. It was their sons, and he had bought it new and the clutch went out at some point. He had a family and a home and couldnt afford to fix it. Apparently nobody wanted it and so he moved it to their property so he could use his driveway.

I guess it was for sale for awhile but nobody wanted to pay what he was asking. It sat on their farm for five years, sinking into the ground, and with weeds growing around it. The drivers side window was down and the ENTIRE interior was ruined from five years of exposure. The original grey and black seats were black and green... It had leaves decomposing on the floor, small plants growing, and old hornets nests everywhere. It wouldnt turn over, and I certainly didnt expect it to start.

Normally I would have passed on a car like this, but my personal MR2 was a rust bucket like no other. It had no floor boards, and the previous owner rattle canned it flat black... They also regularly raced it at KilKare and it had no oil pressure after a few days of normal driving.

C'mon I traded a POS '89 Ford F-150 for it. After my girlfriend got hers I wanted one, and I jumped into one that I probably shouldnt have.

Amazingly other than an incorrect center console my flat black MR2 had an IMMACULATE non-spray painted interior, and other than the oil pressure it ran great.

The car I was looking at, other than the paint being faded to pink, and having no gloss, had less rust. Less dents, and I can deal with faded paint easier than spray paint.

We asked what they wanted and they told me to make an offer. I goaded them around abit and they called their son finally to see what he wanted for it. They came back with $75....

So I got it! It did need a clutch, gas tank, fuel pump, injectors, exhaust, brakes, and a Diesel to pull it out of the ground! And a new interior, and I added a spoiler and the visor over the rear window. It got buffed out entirely by hand, and even though I got the original engine running it lost cylinder three after about six months. So I installed a 7-rib redtop bigport out of an AE92.

It has no rust in the floors, a moderate amount in the quraters, and a fairly straight body with good paint. I am happy!

The rims came from my girlfriends first MR2 which we bought with the intentions to fix up, but never got around to it. We saved it from the junkyard, and it is now an electric car!

Here is a link,

I currently have a V-6 in the garage with full intentions of putting it into my MR2. Its a long way off, I still want to source all the parts before I get started....

looks good the red looks real consistent in the pics.

Who owns the 85 Supra? Got any more pics of that? Looks to be in great shape, which is rare for those cars.

You cant see it in the pictures but my house is about twenty feet from the semi the MR2's are next to.

The Supra is sitting in my driveway, that should give you some idea as to where the house is in relation to the pictures.

And it isnt abandoned hence the Semi-trucks, its a grain mill. One of the few in the area, farmers bring their grain crop here, and it goes into the silos.

Essentially I have a huge parking lot to hold meets, do burnouts, and do whatever I want in. The mill has a dumpster I can use to dispose of large items, and anything really. And I have a large scale that the mill uses to weigh trucks, and I can weigh my cars on it.

The Supra is an '85, its in alright condition, not as rusty as most of them that I see.

EDIT ::

Also you can see the fence around my house in the picture where you can see the light blue '82 Rx-7 in the driveway.

I want to live there. Sure beats having to drive to the bay to dispose of those pesky bodies.
