Thank you fella's!
![]() I think it's time to update this... yes ![]() so grab a cup of coofe, this will be long, sit back, relax, enjoy the read and now let's see what has been done in past months.. ![]() the front reinforcement has ben cleaned, painted with rust prevention paint, and curently in black (don't have those pics yet ) then the new e-brake cables were made for me ![]() now on the serious stuff ![]() after waiting two months on my man for bodywork, to hear that he just has no time to that kind of work... my dad & I got our sleeves up and diged on it ![]() when the original front interface plate was removed I cleaned a bit, because there were marks of acid eating my metal so that had to go ![]() then came the time to decide how to connect the profiles themself ... here you can see that carrier plate for the tow plate, on the new front that's going on and the same thing one the car so the only logical solution was to remove that tow plate from the new part, and just slide the metal sheets over the tow plate that is on the car just one comparison where it needed to be cut first a hard test to see how that theory would work as you can notice the botom hole for the screw that holds the tow plate has been used as a refernce where everything must go... and very accurate it is, but also measures from repair manual have been used to fit everything factory proper ![]() on the inner side the new profile was slipped over the profile on the car then it was time to adopt that tow plate to fit nicely into the new place of living ![]() and this is how it fitted together you can see it's right on hole 100% accurate ![]() so like that it was just fixed tight with zip ties Zip ties FTW! ![]() looking more like a car again! ![]() then I was doing some moar polishing... this is just the first hand ![]() in the meanwhile everything was spot welded, painted with rust prevention paint and for the finish painted againd with hammerite paint for metal, so it was time to test fit the bumper ![]() off cource the bumper itself needs to be worked on, and that bonet is just crap so I had also changed it with the bonner from the blue donor 2 after all that it was time to handle the roof bussines... you ask yourself's why? well the problem with original roof is that something happened and there was some bodywork done on the roof... people that don't do their job good have done a misserable work... so there was used a lot of that I don't know what's it called in english substance, that you use to fill up iregularities on the body of the car... and there is a lot of that, what is a problem because that stuff has a tendency to crack and all in all the roof is rusty under all of that crap... so the best solution was to find a complete car with t-top and use the roof... luck turned on me again... (keep in mind that an mr2 is a rare thing in my country, you can count them on the fingers of your two hands).... well I found one with t-top roof ... that was in untouched condition... choped the complete roof, and some more and took as much as I could parts.... some of those parts the complete what's and why's will be described when the work on the roof starts, then you will see better everything... there you can also see I mounted the lights, and "new" bonet, so what has been done on the front is just getting those in place with everything ![]() basicly what is left to do is... finish that roof replacement, also there is some difference in rear arches... one side is more out....also adjust the driver side door to fit nicely (also a problem because of that roof incident), fit everything nicely together and after all that the painting can begin ![]() all that body work could be done in one week... but I don't have time, dad has to run the service... so it takes time, but then again at least it's been done properly ![]() until the next update, my tasty little lemon drops, take care and train your driving skills safe ![]() ![]() Last edited by da_force; 11-15-2009 at 02:42 PM.. |

^ Thanks man
Yeah without the right tools there's not much one can do ![]() Now just a litlle small update ![]() Regarding the car there hasn't been much more done. There are some things that have to be done on the house, so this has to wait ![]() Never the less... that doesn't stop me from prepairing ![]() I just got this babies last night, and I'm rly happy with them... my first set of coiles' ![]() D2 drift spec ![]() ![]() ![]() Rear ![]() Front ![]() ![]() I made a litlle trial fitment just to see does everything fit, and I'm happy it does but man can it go low will post some pics later ![]() Best regards to all of you! Cheers! |

Huh let's take some dust off this topic
![]() There's been some progress so let's sum it up a bit ![]() Firstly I acquired new tires. F: 205/40/17 & R: 215/40/17 ![]() The shift cable bushing kit from twos r us has also found it's new home ![]() It was important I get some nice lug nuts to hold my wheels nicely, so I decided to go the project kics way I'm very happy with them![]() Here they are in their future working environment ![]() ![]() Then the car went on to have it's entire roof changed, because the previous owner had rolled on the top of it and the job was badly done. I got my hands on an untouched roof to put it on here are some pics of the process I managed to catch![]() ![]() In the mean time I got the tires mounted, oh it was a nice day for me ![]() ![]() ![]() Mounted the coilovers & the wheels on the car asap ![]() ![]() Check out the valve ![]() Droped it nicely ![]() ![]() & took it to get the alignement done so I can have a nice overview of the job I need to do on fenders ![]() Received complete urethane bushing set & goodridge braided brake lines ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() All in all this is how it's atm ![]() ![]() Front is done, the roof is done, so what remains is to get the fenders to be equally pulled on both sides combined with precise fitment of the trunk lid, (there is something off with the left quarter panel), & then there is nothing that keeps the car from getting painted I hope I'll get it done soon so that the mounting can begin ![]() Thank you for watching & reading, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do ![]() Cheers! ![]() |

Hello everybody!
![]() Well I'm happy to say that the 2 is now in the place where it's going to get his new paint ![]() ![]() The only problem that remains is exactly which color ? ![]() I have narrowed the choice to two colors. Original that was on the car, Crimson red 3J6: ![]() some more examples of the 3J6: Toyota Reference Gallery: Toyota Mr2 in Crimson Red (3J6) Or something new, Lan Evo P26: ![]() Opinions? you are welcome! Cheers! |

Hello again
![]() Well I'm finally back & the car is done Thank you all for your support & words of wisdom trough this build! ![]() Just to answer the above going thing about color, I decided to paint it original crimson red 3j6 color and now I'll let the pictures speak for themselves ![]() First thing first, the car went in primer ![]() Then started the painting of all compartments, inside the cabin..etc. ![]() In the mean time I had the complete interior reupholstered ![]() ![]() You can see that the 98 red accent interior is something I was aiming for ![]() Soon after that the painting was done & it was time to take it home ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The painting was done superb & couldn't belive my eyes that an original toyota color could look so good! Then on to the business Just let me make a note that in the following pics you will see that there will be some parts mounted on the car what does not follow the right time line that is due to the fact I didn't took picturs all the way, but near the end ![]() Anyway let's go First the protection of the underbody had to done ![]() ![]() Then onto the engine; I had the flywheel newly redone ![]() Joined with the new orig. exedy clutch ![]() ![]() After that I jumped on the preping the engine bay for insertion Looking clean ![]() ![]() Afterwards I noticed that the exhust wasn't in a god shape, so I cleaned all the rust of it, protected it & painted the important parts with heat resistant paint also I added some glass wool in the place where they need to keep the heat in the pipes ![]() ![]() I also did the same job of bringing back to life those protection plates between the exhaust & floor ![]() Engine & exhaust finaly fitted ![]() ![]() It was time to start working on the interior a bit, so when I headed on to install the vent system I noticed it was extremly dirty inside and those sponges on those router plates were worn out.. what to do? take everything apart, wash it, & make new sponges easier said then done ![]() ![]() ![]() Test fitting new sponges ![]() One part done two to go ![]() ![]() With that done & installed I could carry on with the rest of the interior ![]() ![]() I had installed the original head unit + original 6 speaker + original sub = awesome sound for almost 20 years old components I'm suprised by that audio quality Then back onto exterior This is how my rear lights looked like after those almost 20 years of usage ![]() ![]() After I sad the man who painted the car I want those lights to look like new: ![]() KABAAAM! ![]() In the mean time, the new windshield came & I had it installed with all the other windows was a bit of P.I.T.A. ![]() ![]() I forgot to mention I added a second fan to the front the radiator had factory mounts on both sides, there's allready a factory connector in the electrical instalation & all I still need is a second relay which activates that second fan... so I said why not ![]() ![]() The rear lower suspension braces were all rusted out so I made new ones by myself using the factory front strut bar which I didn't need anymore, as I had 3 of them & brand new front & rear TRD strut bars, pic: ![]() ![]() Here's another shot of the under body & it's aero, all nice & closed ![]() ![]() And here's a random pic of the luggage compartment ![]() Oh and this litlle fella' made me some company ![]() ![]() Well let me wrap this up there were allot bits & bits that were done from which I didn't take pic's & I think there is no need to tell the story about every bolt on the car. As all things have their goal to reach, so is with this one. After a period shorter then one month & something like 400 working hours invested only in assembly the 2 was finally registered & on the road I've been driving her for about a month now & can say only the best things It looks great, it sounds great, it turns heads & most off all it feels great! just right! ![]() So I'll finish this huge post with two pics I have of the finished product; ![]() ![]() As soon as I have someone shot it proper with a real camera I'll post those pics here so you can see this 2 in all it's glory ![]() I wish you all a nice day & best regards from Croatia! Cheers! ![]() |
