MR2 Senor Dos PROJECT
Greetings all!
Been lurking a while and I would like to share with all of you the story which I'm going trough with my two ![]() So here it goes.... ![]() I bought the car couple a months ago, in a poor state with the 3S-GE engine blown.... it was siting like this for almost a year ![]() And so I started working on it, firstly I started washing the engine parts and got the engine head machined and everything preped for assambley of the head ![]() And than I heard about a man that was studying here in my town (he is from Malaysia) and he had an mr2 that was a bit crashed at the front, but the engine was in a great condition, so I bought it for a price of airplane ticket to malaysia This move vas like a dream because if you would compare how much money would I spend on bringing the old engine to life and some body parts, this is just wunderbar! saved a whole lot of money and time ![]() The man, the "savior" ![]() So it was time to take the red out and start hard on it ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Then I started on the blue 2 ![]() After that it was time for surgery ![]() ![]() and so the engine was out, & that was a great oportunity to clean it ![]() ![]() I took some suspension parts from the blue one ![]() Sandblasted them all ![]() ![]() And started painting, first with the paint that prevents rust ![]() ![]() ![]() In the meantime got the new clutch set ![]() After finishing painting with the rust prevention paint, it was time for finishing painting, so here is how some of the parts turned out like ![]() ![]() The sump was also sandblasted, painted with rust prevention paint and then in mat black which endures temperatures of 800 degrees ![]() Also protected some of the body parts from the blue 2 ![]() Then came time when I was not able to paint everything by hand so the reinforcements have been used ![]() ![]() The result: ![]() ![]() Then some more sandblasting was done ![]() ![]() ![]() I've put the front suspension permanently back on the car so I can move it around and start working on the body ![]() ![]() ![]() Then choped the front of the blue 2 and took of the same part from the red 2 by drilling the factory welded points, so when I put the new front on and weld the same spots It will be like from factory if not better ![]() ![]() And for those who were not amused by all this so far, the rims were a bit bent so that was taken care off, after that they were sandblasted and newly painted ![]() ![]() ![]() After that I went on a one month vacation, where I started polishing some of the parts for the old engine And now most of the work that is being done is mostly bodywork, just cleaning, brushing, fixing and so on, will post some pics when I collect some more interesting pics ![]() Well I hope you were not bored by the long read, and hope you were amused a bit, from now on the posts will be shorter ![]() Have a nice evening all ! Cheers! Last edited by da_force; 09-06-2009 at 06:20 PM. |

Well I'm very pleased that you like it so far
I'm aiming to making it minty & clean as it gets with some tasty parts of course ![]() It will take some more time because I'm a student, and I don't have some crazy amounts of time to spend on it, need to earn money and study, make love to beautyfull women, and all that stuff .. ![]() But now I have a couple of questions for you that are a bit more experienced in the SW20 area then me ![]() 1.TRD springs: - Is it possible someone tells me the exact dimensions of those, thicknes of them (F/R), characteristics and as much as info I can get, because I have a man that fabricates springs by order, and he can make them however I want them, for a special price for me so in that case I would likeknow everything I can about the TRD springs for the SW20 I knowthere is no substitution for the original thing, but please just go with me here ![]() 2. TRD rear strut brace: - I have noticed this is somewhat of a wanted part, very rare & hard to get, so does somebody have any advice where to get it, I've came across something & I would like to hear your opinion on this, is it the real thing?, as I noticed it states it's for MR2/S, does that mean that the TRD rear strut brace fits bouth, the SW20 and the ZZW30? because just by looking at the picture I don't think so ... here's the link ---> TRD Strut Brace - Toyota MR2-S - Rear - TRD-PTR04-17901-50 van TRD - Toyota Performance - 3. TRD shift knob: - What are those you can find on ebay, are they factory fit for ZZW30 only or do they fit in SW20 normaly as original or is there something more to it and I saw a difference in prices for the same knobs as it seems... what'swith that ? link----> TRD LEATHER SHIFT KNOB CELICA SUPRA TACOMA OEM:eBay Motors (item 230373809732 end time Sep-12-09 13:05:15 PDT) 4. MR2 floor mats: - Quite expensive thing (for a carpet I mean) but I want them , I found them on Twos R Us, are those ok or you have something more to say about that mather link---> Twos R Us - Parts for Toyotas from Club MR2 Thank you! On TRD Springs, Aaron's your man. Go here - We have TRD springs again!
On TRD struts, I wouldn't know the benefit, but someone will. On shift knob, if you like what you see... make it your. Its genuine for sure.On Floor Mats, again, if you like them, quality is guaranteed. With David at 2sRus, you'll get what you see ![]() |
