my first car. my sweetheart
i got this '85 for $800 back in july. when i got it, i thought it had bad rings, so i had the motor rebuilt. i come to find out that it jumped a cog, blowing a hole in the side of my #4 piston. i had the guy bore it out 30 over, grind my valves, and install an aftermarket crank, cams, connecting rods, pistons, and anything else he could find. took 3 months and $1,800, but i'm finally working on install. i cut the exhaust just before the flex pipe, split it, and trew on two 18" long glasspacks. no more cats, no more bends, no more huge muffler full of rusted chunks. i pulled the dash and console apart, painted it black and blue, and as soon as i find a kit for it, it's getting plush neon blue carpet and a black headliuner, new racing seats, blue neon lights under the dash, around the stereo face, and along the doorwell. it just got two 12" shallow-mount Kenwood subs and a JVC Arsenal amp and a 5 farad capacitor on a Blaupunkt deck with 6.5" Sony XPLOD SPEAKERS IN THE DOOR AND 4" infiniti speakers in the dash. the paint's an '03 Mazda color, and it came out like crap. major orange peel and i big gust of wind blew a bunch of debris into my hood right after i laid the last coat. by the time i call this car done, it will be converted to a 6spd, be running a stage 3 turbo, the rear trunk will house the intercooler, i'll build a custom dual intake for it, and run the biggest injectors and fuel pump i can find. it'll also get two 20lb NOS bottles in the front trunk running to a wet shot system. hope some of you will meet me on the strip. =) oh! more pics coming soon

and this is the first time i did anything with an import. i rebuilt one dodge truck, getting ready to do another one, rebuilt a '73 plymouth duster, '63 dodge dart, and an old jeep CJ-7. i've never worked on such a complex motor, but it's all going to be worth it. i can't wait to turn the key for the first time since july!!!

I say if you're gonna put that kind of money into motor work, strip it out and weld in a roll cage. Drop as much weight as possible. Make it a track beast
