The *OFFICIAL* Photography corner
Im seeing there is at least some skilled slr shooters in here, so lets share tips.
![]() I'll start off w/ my current gear Canon 50D + some fast lenses Shot using a 17-55 2.8 w/ just image stabilizer, it feels like cheating w/o a tripod Shot using a 85 1.2L on tripod, shake still visible as i forgot to bring the remote trigger (could have used the 2sec timer but its too late) More can be seen in this folder Index of /sw20/Oct 07 Most of my pictures are done on the long end to prevent distortion and unflattering look when shooting up close. None of my images has been modified and are natural as possible out of the camera, save for the white balance correction. |

Nice pics require a nice car which mine are not
![]() Maybe when I get this purple done on the mkII and then perhaps the mkI I can borrow a nice camera and set up for some decent shots. Until then it's my old 3.2MP cannon ![]() |

My wife has a Canon 5d Mark II with some big fancy expensive lens'. That camera is pretty sweet! Only pictures I have are of me trying to snap some pictures with it which i made no adjustments for and then downsized and jpg'd them lol..... so they're nothing special. She is a photographer so she takes some amazing photographs with it!

hdr mostly post process, it takes several images of different exposures from dim to bright. the idea is to get as much detail from both end since one single shot can't capture all ranges of the histogram and then using a mixer(application) to combine all to one shot. properly done it looks nice but most are overdone specially on automotive shots making it look unnatural.
Ok it' s not an hdr but if it was this would be what it needs. Sky is not a smudge of overblown white and the pavement keeps its detail. This image is huge so it's a link http://oteck.ca/Test/Leavenworth.jpg |

gear:
a pair of 20d's (because switching lenses is for suckers, you always miss the shot), one with the vertical grip kit lens (dont use it, dont recall its stats) 50 f/1.8 sigma 12-24 f/3.5ish (changes) sigma 24-70 f/2.8 (probably most useful range/speed) canon 70-200 f/4L (my favorite; sharpest other than the 50) canon 400mm f/5.6L (like a lead pipe) (a few others that have come into my life and I dont recall) Ring flash of some sort, few other flashes, other misc. equipment No photos off hand, havn't been using any of it lately... but if I ever get my ass to a meet, you bet it'll all be there with me ![]() |
