February 2007 MR2 Showcase

Congratulations to lbridges - MR2Board's February 2007 Showcase MR2!
2002 Hardtop MR2 Spyder

Click the below thumbnails for fullsize pictures:

Not everyone falls in love at first sight when it comes to the MKIII MR2, but over time many of us have found ourselves liking the car more and more as time goes on. lbridges is no different, having previously owned a MKII, this MKIII owner decided to add something a little different to his garage.

As a daily driver, the modlist is kept from being overly extensive, but the car has seen tasteful upgrades, mainly focused on improving the handling of this black roadster. Possibly the hardest to overlook is the Toyota factory hardtop, that is quite rare in the United States.

Thank you lbridges for showing us how classy a stock MR2 Spyder can be.

Congrats man! I love the look of the Spyder, the only thing I'd change is the exhaust, as I never quite liked the stock looking one.

Very Cool Hardtop! Seems like the concensus is that the MKIII looks better with a roof - not that it's ugly without, it just looks more complete that way.

Love the Spyder. The MKIII's are awesome. I wish they would have had more power though. This is a very clean ride. In fact I would have to say that I get more responses in the Spyder than the MKII.

Thank you one and all

What kind of pics do you want to see? As the car is black, it's sometimes hard to get detail/contrast in pics (with my skills anyway), so if you want something particular targeted I would need to know.

The hardtop, while spendy @ $2k, produces more body rigidity and a quieter ride. It is an OEM part from Japan, with finished headliner, plug-in rear window defroster, etc., yet weighs maybe all of 45 pounds.

thanks again to all, Lee

89' SC rear wing/deck lid spoiler with long LED Brake Light

It's currently black and needs paint to match your car but works good. Rare and only available on 1989. Make offer.

Pics seem to have fallen off on several showcase winners. I can't remember which pics I originally submitted, so here's one just to put something back for anyone cruising this sub forum.

edit: pic deleted

The original entry also didn't say much about mods except that I did have many (sad but true). Thought maybe I would run down the list.

Exterior:
Hard top (soft top retained)
Clear front side markers
JDM Wheel center caps
Shorty Antenna
OEM badges removed
Frunk JDM badge
Rear Euro MR2 badge

Drivetrain:
Header
Shifter bushings

Suspension/Chassis:
1" Sway bar front w/Poly bushings
7/8" Sway bar rear w/Poly bushings
Corky's breastplate
Che's front & rear lower chassis braces

Interior/Audio:
JDM steering wheel badge
JDM Navigation Pod (housing Xenarc 700TSV - 7" touch screen)
Dell Laptop in storage bin (for navigation, audio, OBDII, DVD, etc)
Pioneer Premier Headunit, Amplifier, Speakers
Memphis Audio 30-channel 1/3rd octave Equalizer
