April 2007 MR2 Showcase

The MR2Board Team would like to pay their respects to those lost in the horrible tragedy at Virginia Tech, and extend their deepest condolences to any of those who may have been affected by the catastrophe.

2000 MR2 Spyder

Glenonoka's relationship with his new MR2 Spyder didn't start on the right foot. Back in 2005, with the intention of buying a new Prius, Robert ended up driving off the lot with a huge grin in a used 2000 MR2. Only a month into owning the car, Robert notices that its oil consumption is out of the ordinary. Without expecting it, Robert is hit with the pre-cat failure problem that every Spyder owner dreads. To make matters worse, his Toyota dealer was less than accommodating with his problem.

Thankfully, the bad luck didn't deter him. After getting the car into good running condition, the modifications began. With a list that seems nearly infinite, the most significant additions definitely stick out with a flashy TRD badge. A full TRD Sportivo suspension including sway bars, struts and shocks, along with, TRD strut tower bars front and rear, and TRD chassis braces make this Spyder one of the best handling cars on the road. The TRD treatment didn't end there, the car was then draped with a TRD Stage II body kit. Along with a plethora of other additions, it's easy to see that Robert hasn't spared a penny on his gorgeous MR2.

Robert's car came to us a little late this month to technical difficulties, but it surely deserves as much credit as the rest of our Showcase MR2s! Thanks to Glenonoka for showing us how to build a beautiful MKIII... and maybe converting some of us in the process

Thanks, it is a pleasure to drive, especially in the summer. The car is in PA, near philly. I hope to get to some meets again this summer. Only made it to one in MD last summer. She's isn't quite finished yet, I had a real short winter this year. I should be done for next year, only a few more mods in the garage to put on.

Hells ya, this is some sweet MK3. You get a hard top and you'd be in the running for the sexiest MK3 EVER.

I've considered a hard top many times. I just can't bring myself to buying one. I have other cars I can drive if I want a hard top.
