Congratulations to RePete - MR2Board's August 2007 Showcase MR2! 1991 Turbo MR2 Hardtop ![]() Click the below thumbnails for fullsize pictures: Perhaps one of the most desired MR2 trims in the community today is the Hardtop Turbo. RePete choice in MR2s seems to fit that generalization. Having purchased the car from the original owner out of Utah, the only Hardtop MR2s found in Canada were imported by their new owners, and not Toyota canada. With a nearly entire OEM exterior, the only aftermarket addition to Pete's car is a set of classy 5 spoked SSR Integral A2 forged wheels in 16" up front and 17" out back. A true MR2 enthusiast appreciates that Pete's car isn't built with crazy modifications, but that it's an excellent example of OEM upgrading with the intention of making the MR2 a better car, without sacrificing any Toyota genuine quality. Most recently, RePete added a brand new 1995 OEM LSD Transaxle with '93+ upgraded shift lever. Furthering the upgrade to the Rev2+ specifications, Pete's car sports a full suspension and brake setup from a 1993+ car including the famed Brad Bedell. master cylinder brace and stainless steel brake lines. Keeping with the OEM quality, Pete's car has been stiffened by TRD strut braces hidden by the front and rear hoods. More obviously, the car's exterior has been updated with a set of 1994+ taillights. Repete's '91 Turbo sets a perfect example for those owners nor interested in flashy mods, but classy, and well maintained fun. Happy MR2ing Pete ![]() |

Thank you very much for the compliments, gentlemen! This August showcase was a complete surprise for me, it's an honor and I'm humbled. I owe a lot to you guys, the MR2 community. You've helped shape my choices with your thoughtful postings and excellent advice - arguably among the more intelligent of the car fanatics on the web. The good natured banter mixed with hard technical data always keeps me coming back to this board, it's also a fun place to post and hang!
Now, if I can just get my plans going for a new short block with all the trimmings... ![]() |

nice mr2, I have a white 91, but it's na and has t tops.
what did you do to the wheels? 17's with 205 50 tires? 16's with fatter tires? I have 205-40-17 right now, but I was thinking of changing the tire size to 205-50-17's, just because i think it'll ride better and be more flush with the wheel well, is that what you did? |

Those wheels are 16x7, 225/45 and 17x9, 265/40.
Unfortunately, that car is no more, it was destroyed in a useless collision - lots of frame damage. A jerk in a van ran a red and I T-boned him at almost 40 mph. If it wasn't for the front crumple zone in the '2, the 8 year old boy sitting in the back seat of the van where I impacted would probably have been seriously injured or worse. After a year or so of mourning, I got back into the game only recently, Monday in fact - when I bought another '2. A rare sunroof turbo! Check In thread below. Good To Be Back! ![]() |
