I think he might have been referring to the BEAMS

Although aftermarket availability for it, it's really minimal.

In that case, the answer is still probably very similar. I don't know much about the BEAMS, but the availability of parts and aftermarket is actually much more available for the 2zz than for the beams motor in the U.S.A. Therefore, the availability for the k20a far exceeds that of any BEAMS products I would find here. Also, what tranny do they come with? As far as I know, the BEAMS would probably use the same tranny as the 2zz(although I don't know that). Once again, I don't know much about the beams motor, but I imagine the k20a still has more bolt on potential than the beams.

What tranny does the Beams mate up to?

Sweet! I Had no idea you were building one of these! Is this the magazine car from a few months ago?

And what's the axle solution? Custom/Honda inner, Toyota outer?

Andrew, All sw20 Transmissions will work. The preferred of course is the stock Beams '99 transmission with LSD, but lots of people have used USDM transmissions on theirs.

I am using a gen 4 Turbo Trans.
