November 2008 MR2 Showcase
Congratulations to Andrew - MR2Board's November 2008 Showcase MR2! 2004 Toyota MR2 w/ Honda K20a Click the below thumbnails for fullsize pictures: November 2008's MR2 Showcase is different than anything we've seen before... a Toyota powerplant doesn't lie at midship. Finding it's home between the MR2's cabin and rear bumper, is an Integra Type R 4 cylinder reportedly pumping out nearly 240hp. Literally no corner of this MR2 has been left untouched, the modification list speaks entirely for itself (find the whole list below). While some may call it blashphemous, this Honda heart is an engine that truly gives most four bangers a run for it's money. Congratulations to Andrew for having the most unique MKIII we've seen at MR2.com! K20. Very nice. I saw a couple of setups like that in Japan. That is one sweet Spyder.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate the props and the nomination to be on the site. It is absolutely a blast to drive.
It dyno'd 238hp at Church's dyno but they always read real high. It puts down 210rwhp on a dynojet. It puts down mid 14's in the 1/4 here in Albuquerque where we are over 5,000ft. Should be an easy 13 at sea level. Ive auto-x it a few times the past few weeks and it is a handful to drive. Loving every minute of it and still trying to get better at driving it. |

That's a great looking car dude.
....but W.T. holy F. -a VT(can't bring myself to finish that word) engine. Don't you know Toyota built a VVT-i engine which is supposedley better? >>not to distract I guess. I love the colour / bodywork! The MK3 can look so pants stock -but so good modified properly. Congrats!! |

I do know about the 2zz. The 2zz is very inferior in my opinion to the k20a as far as bolt on potential is concerned. The 2zz comes with 180hp and the k20a came with 220hp from the factory. They both have similar rev capabilities and come with 6 speeds. The aftermarket is far superior on the k20 as well so finding bolt on parts and even turbo and supercharger stuff is way easier and cheaper. The number 1 reason I chose this car over the other 2zz spyders I was considering is the enormous difference in the gearbox. The 6-speed that Toyota makes absolutely blows and people mis-shift all the time and blow their motor because it feels like crap shifting that tranny. The k20a with the LSD shifts 100 times better and this was the main reason I went with this car.
