Can i test the market?

Long time user but not so frequent poster... I've got a product that I used to sell in very small quantities and mostly just to my local MR2 guys, but I was wondering if it would be breaking rules to test the interest in this specific product on one of the open forums so I could gauge whether it was savvy of me to pursue this as a more substantial production.

If i can do this, which forum would be best to do it in?

If I can't do this, why not and how do I get around that objection?

It would be merely a thread similar to "Would you buy product X (with pics) for $X.00?"
