What do you mean bogging down, are you just not getting power? And is it just at 3000 or can you get more power at higher RPM?

And was the engine warmed right up?

I've had my engine bog down when it was really really cold, but just let it warm up completely and it was fine. And that only really happened once or twice, and could have been icing in the intake or something.

Well how many things can cause that.

1 Not enough fuel.
2 Not enough air.
3 Bad ignition timing i think would do it.

A bad sensor or something could cause a bad fuel mix.

If it's cold where you are i would try taking the air flow meter of and see if it's still moving freely, and check for any ice that may have formed over the winter. Especially if your air filter sits under the vent like on most MK1's. (i don't know where the 3sgte one usually is ) So i guess take the air filter off any if you thing it's clogged with ice warm it up inside. I'm not sure if they can actually ice up enough to do that, but i've had snow clog mine up pretty bad sometimes.

The engine runs smoothly though?

I've hear lots of people who've had their AFM get clogged right up with ice to the point where they had to bring in inside to melt enough to use.

I've never taken mine off to check, but quite a few times i'm pretty sure i've had it stick, because i felt the engine sputtering pretty bad, and had to rev a bit.

Well i don't know how fast fuel actually degrades, but if has fuel in the lines, and stale fuel shouldn't make it run like that, it'd still rev higher.

The reason i keep saying afm like a broken record is because the problem changes with RPM, because the RPM is creating the problem you have to ask, what is changing with the rpm? --> Amount of air and fuel going into engine.

So it should be related to engine management systems or fuel delivery, the AFM, TPS or O2 sensor providing wrong or conflicting info to the computer; or bad fuel pressure or injectors (or leak, but that shouldn't randomly happen while a car sits).

But since it started alright i don't think it can be the injectors, and i'm really not sure about fuel pressure, but i don't think that could be it either. So it's kinda left to engine management.

Just my thought process.

well the car has been sitting there for about 6 to 8 months so i was thinking that was the problem + every thing was working fine before. but i have to check i am also concern that it could be a boost leak. that was one of that thing that scared me was how it was spooling
