HELP NEW OWNER I WANT TO SWAP ENGINE
Hey guys I'm new to this forum and completely new to the world of mr2's or imports period. I have owned nothing but muscle cars including my current 01 camaro with a fully build LS2 under the hoood. Regardless, two weeks ago i purchased a 1988 toyota superchaged mr2 with 52k original miles on it. I purchased the car for 600 bucks but it was crashed from the front nothing serious just new bumper needed and to fix the hood. Anyways the trany is already giving out on me I have no reverse on the car and i feel the engine is not far away from going. So this is were i need your guys help I have no clue what other engines will fit in that tight lil space. I was wondering if I purchased a turbo engine and trany from a later generation mr2 will it fit? Or is their any other type of engine out their that will fit that I can boost up. Any of your suggestions will be greatly apreciated it.

Do some searching on mk1.5. Thats a first gen mr2 with a third gen 3sgte. sounds like that is what you are looking for.

ya, the 3sgte is more powerfull as well, somewhere around 200 to 250 depending on what revision. It usually takes some modifications to fit, but it works.
