I think that blue MR2 DOES look good, only thing I would change is the front bumper. Other than that, it's a very unique and very nice MR2. Supra taillights don't look good on most MR2's but on 1 particular widebody I've seen it actually looks nice.

Yeah that sounds bad, I was trying to think of a better way to say what I meant, and I don't think there's a way really to say it. I wasn't refering to like a race or anything like that. More like the kids of semi-rich parents who buy them civics and give them money to go to modify their car with whatever they can put on it with a screwdriver. Does that clarify a bit more?

So in reality I lose $9k or drive something else if my car is killed... that doesn't seem right because people want to trash something rather than take car of it, despite the fact that they know it's rare. Also, it makes me sad because when I see another rare car get killed/abused that means that there's one less car for someone who would have LOVED it, and cherished it. That sucks for the guy who saved up just enough to buy a rare car, but by the time he saved up, the market went up more because they got a lot rarer due to people mistreating them. I feel sorry for that guy.
Do your research... mr2's are not depreciating because they're owned by people who modify them, they are depreciating because they're old. very old.....

Who cares... it's THEIR car... and THEIR money.... and THEIR business... not yours, or mine, or anyone elses.

Oh accually it is my business and my money when cops start pulling me over and trying to cite me for speeds faster than I was going because they are lumping me in with them just because I have a loud exhaust.

Uhm I wasn't saying they were depreciating. They kind of are appreciating... at least in my area. I was also talking more about the Supra market earlier.

Come on man... i get that all the time too, In the last 6 months (since January). I've been pulled over 9 times, and had 7 speeding tickets handed to me. Three of which have been for 5 miles over in highways which speed limits are 65-75mph. This has more to do with all the deaths and accidents related to street racing increasing over the last few years, and also because of all the fast n furious type movies. I got another ticket where 2 cops pulled me over and gave me a ticket for doing 125mph at 3am (on my way back to austin from work in houston). They DID NOT clock me on a radar gun but said that a helicopter was pacing me a few miles back. The entire time i had my cruise control set on 80 in a 70mph zone. I knwo your pains in this area. But is has NOTHING to do with the kids that are distastefully modifying their cars. It has to do with the increasing accidents, deaths, and injuries due to streetracing

And who are the majority of people dyingin streetracing accidents? Around here, it's about 30-50% civics, 20% integras, and 20% mustangs. Which are the cars you see untastefully modded. I have personally seen about 6-7 fatal accidents caused by street racing in the past 2 years due to my driving habits, and all but one were civics, and at least 3 of them had those stupid wings you get at autozone or whatever laying on the ground bent up like a pretzel. One was orange with blue stripes too, really tasteful there. These kids think that because they put a wing and an exhaust ont heir car, it's safe at 100mph. Civics don't do well at that speed. Cops lump me in with the ugly cars because they drive about as nice as their cars look. Around here Police hear a loud exhaust and they hop behind you and run your plates. My good friend has been pulled over I can't tell you how many times in the past 2 years. He has gotten out of all but two of the tickets because he was doing nothing wrong. Not speeding, not driving badly, nothing. (he drives a bit like a grandma accually, unless at the track) He used to own my car, and cops flew to him like flies. He had to challenge a ticket or two in court, but he got off. The sad reality is that Most MR2 drivers drive like grandmas on the street relitive to the integra/civic boys because they are responsible enough to own a real car, and therefore don't do anything bad enough to get tickets, but I bet we all get our fair share of tickets for moving with the speed of traffic.

4 cars on the road going 60 in a 55, lets pull over the one with the wing/exhaust/anything not stock. That's the thought process of the police around here. (I keep saying around here because I don't want you to think I'm speaking for all the police in the world)

These are all rough estimates I'm trying my best not to over exagerate, but I really do drive a lot, and I really see a lot of accidents. I see about 1 dead person a month, and it makes me sad.

Yes, the front bumper is the worst thing I've ever seen in my entire life. And yes, I would punch the guy in the throat for doing it. (oh come on, it's just an expression!) I can appreciate the guy that put in the work though.

And cops pulling us over (although I've had little problem in THAT area of the law) has nothing to do with safety concerns. The US budget is 1.7 TRILLION this year, they have to skim $$ everywhere they can. Don't even get me started on that subject, I thoroughly HATE police, US government and they're slimy, low-life, pathetic ways of taking our money and telling us what to do.

There's a guy on here with a quote from P.J. Proudhon in his sig, it's a GREAT quote. (don't know the guy though)

Come on... doesn't that put you in the same category as the guys that slap the wings/exhaust on their car and think it's save to drive fast?

I agree imweip. I've seen so many "street racing" wrecks, fatal or not and it's a civic or accord with wheels and a wing. Graphics and guages. Let's see, FWD + huge wing = less and less traction on the drive wheels the faster you go.

I firmly believe most if not all of them deserved to die. It's called natural selection, I just hope it was before they reproduced. It's a shame how many innocents are hurt do to their stupidity and also how bad others are looked upon because of their actions.

And I would fit into the grandma category, save for a few safe corners and parking lots. I also drive a lightly modded 300hp gen3. *love*

You do realize if you see a wrecked, riced Civic you're likely assuming street race, where if you see a wrecked, completely stock Taurus, you're only assuming it wasn't.

When I see a wrecked civic, ricer, etc, I can look at the damage and guess at the situation pretty well. This is one of those occum's razor situations where it's just more probable it was from stupid driving or lack of driving ability more than anything else.

I was mostly referring to what the news, etc. has said was street racing. And I've seen many other vehicles besides ricers. A taurus would be a good example, people around here will 'race' anything, I mean ANYTHING. And it seems the worse it is, the more they want to race!

I knew they were from street racing because it was all over the news... I see the accident, and am like WTF? Then you see it all over the news the next day. I even talked to the dad of a kid who died in his silver civic, because he was a barber I went to occaisionally. He was trying to get his kid to tone it down and kept telling him he was gonna get killed. You can't really street race in orlando with out witnesses. This is why its absolutly pointless to run when the other car wrecks. They ALWAYS catch the ******* who takes off, and he goes to jail. Its a bit of a big deal here. I can't drive 10 miles without at least 2 cars challenging me.

Everyone here thinks they are Vin Diesel. But unlike Vin Diesel, they don't have a turbo RX-7 with NOS and Movie magic to evade the cops.

I don't feel they should simply die but if they're out there doing something THAT stupid and die, I call it natural selection. NS is something the government has been diluting for many, many years. Which in turn is diluting our intelligence and genetic code... Does the US gov't even realize how bad they are screwing up the ENTIRE world?!???

My gen3 is also stock! I'm even running it on gen2 ecu/afm/wring still. I'm upgrading to gen3 ecu/map in a month or so. (check sig for needed parts!)

I only have BPU's, full 3" exh, intake, I/C, EBC. It put down 276rwhp, pretty average for the engine/mods and makes me 100% happy! (100% OEM reliable too)
