Nothing Clever

The one thing I would suggest you do before putting everything back together is running the wiring for the Amps. Since all of the carpeting is already out, it will be a cleaner install and more time efficient. The only thing is you have to decide if you want to run 1 amp or 2. You don't have do wire it all up now, but tucking it under the carpet and having it come up exactly where you want it would be pretty clean.

I was thinking about that but I need to get a wiring kit first. Running wiring under the carpet is actually pretty easy so I'm not too worried about when I actually get it done. I'll take the carpet out again if I have to
. We'll see if the wiring fits into my budget this month or not. Here's some pictures without the seats. The drivers side is pretty much done now ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Tell me about it!!! It drives me nuts having to drive that thing
![]() I need to figure out if I can do a V6 swap in the next few months. If so then it's pointless so swap in a manual tranny before the swap. If not then I need to do it asap... So in light of current funds and need for a manual car...I think I might end up just getting a used 3vz, matting it to the e153 (that I need to rebuild), and calling it a day. I'll build a new motor on a stand that will go in eventually but i'd be happy with a straight swap for now. I think with help I can get it done in a weekend ![]() |

Found a guy selling a 3vz for $150 3VZFE for sale. It needs a new head gasket (which he has), intake, and accessories...so just needs a little TLC then it's good to go.
What do you guys think? The only thing that worries me is getting a hold of all the accessories and such and a wiring harness. But for a short block that's a pretty good deal. Other option would be picking up a 3vz from a junk yard in Riverside that I know has one with 138k miles on it. |

I just replied to that one... I thought it was a good deal but if you can get everything in one place that might be well worth it and less of a hassle....
By the way. forecast isn't looking good. If you are still down to work on it i'm all for it. However, I don't have an EZup so that means working on the rain. No room in the garage as well as you saw last time. Its become a storage space... |

sweet.... I posted an ad on craigslist for automotive services. I might have a couple of customers if weather permits... Just trying to make a few bucks on the side since I have all these tools. Might as well put them to good use. I was making mad @$$ bucks back in the days lowering cars, installing headers etc....

What are you trying to do? I did that to mine for the speakers but instead of fixing whats broken, I ran new wires straight fromt he speaker to the head unit.

Yes you should! Just get some convoluted tubing (like this: Convoluted Tubing and Electrical Wiring Supplies) to make the install cleaner. If you get a Single or Dual Amp install kit, it will come with new wiring for your speakers. For all my audio installs, I get the Rockford AMP wiring kits. I've heard/read good things about the JL ones as well. I guess I'm just a Rockford dork.

Thanks Ji... Yeah whoever is down to help and i'll split the labor cost. I called a few shops and labor cost to lower a car is $150. I posted for $90 ofcourse less for friends and referals as long as they are willing to help. Its really the use of tools they are paying for because it makes things a lot easier. I even posted brake pad replacement. As you guys know, shops like Midas charge $90 per axle. I'll do the installation for $50 for all 4 axles as long as they provide parts.....
Send them my way guys ![]() here is my ad Drop Lower your car / brake pad rotor replacement I woulda made a lot on our drop meet but you guys are family and i love ya'll ![]() |

Yeah, then thats surely what you need to do. try to download the manual for the wire color code. Wiring is easy its just time consuming.

Nice! You should LED's (gauge cluster, turn signals, ambient lights, etc.) and HID's since those are the new 'hot' mods to have. I install HIDs for free for my friends (they are nice enough to buy me dinner or something). It is easy and if you know what you are doing, you can make it a clean install without seeing any wires, ballasts, or relays.
