Maybe we'll call you "Ernesto"
. That kinda sucks dude. Why seattle and why for just a few months? I was just there this past weekend. Way too cold and not much of a car scene anymore (used to be huge). |

I know how it is to want to get away...could be a good experience. You'd have a lot more support for helping you build your car down here though...

with only 120k miles on it...yeah...it's not that hard of a drive. Matt has been up to Oregon multiple times in the past few month and never had issues.

My friends at the local shop started laughing at me when i said I was going to drive it up to seattle, they said they would bet pink slips that it wouldnt make it even after a full tune up =[ pretty discouraging but my deuce has shown me nothing but love since i got it so i have faith in it<3 haha
im still going to try and come out to the meet on sunday to help out since ill be attempting to do my own suspensions out in seattle. |

My girlfriend in college had a 92 Forerunner that made it up and back twice. It had over 200k miles on it the first time and it did just fine. Your car will be fine as long as you do the maintenance before you leave. If it was a honda shop that would explain why they would laugh...

i need big time help guys!!!!
i just swap out my distributor today. and i use the timing gun to reset my timing again. i set the gun at 0 and try to put up to 15. but, it only went -15 and not 15. so, my timing is really off. and i don't know what to do now. been thinking about it over and over. and the only thing i can think of is that i install the distributor in wrong. but, how could i? it only go in one way....right?

Did the distributor gear move at all when you pulled it out. Best thing to do when installing one is crank the engine to Top Dead Center then rotate the distributor rotor to point to the #1 plug wire. That should be 0 degrees timing.

That's odd. Is the distributor hold down catching on something. You should be able to advance the timing to almost 20 degrees without much trouble. You wanna put up a picture of the base of your distributor? Sorry you're having issues Frankie

u know the right way is to turn the crank to top dead center... then insert your distributor with the rotor pointing to #1 pin.
Oh, the distributor can go any way. If you mean go to the same hole one way then yes but the timing has to match #1 when the first piston is "UP" which is the TDC on the crank... So if it so happens that you just pulled the distributor out then insert the new distributor in, then there is a huge possibility that it is off.... I suggest you turn the crank using a socket clockwise when the arrow points up or TDC then insert the new distributor in with the rotor on the #1 position... and you'll get the timing that you want ![]() Last edited by masagsxr; 02-16-2009 at 06:53 PM. |

I don't suggest to drive it when the timing is off. It just means your firing order is jacked up.... If your timing is off, u can play with the wires like putting #1 wire to 2, 2 to 4, 3 to 1 etc... to get the timing right... Its better you do it the right way.. I think if you follow my instruction you have 90% chance that your right on the button. Then you can turn it up/down with the little play it has to get 15degrees

Yeah...that's why I leave the cap off till I have it in. It will usually turn a little when inserted because the gear is helical...
