told him to check the timing first as he can still do that even with the bad sensor. He needs to make sure the timing is still correct. usually he'll just probably run rich or lean tho and will still rev over 5500 rmp. shops are usually dead on with what they think. He should borrow someone elses MAF and see it fixes the problem. I'm guessing its the MAF since he didn't mention any change with his ignition timing to begin with. |

My 2 just failed a smog test. I'm pissed. The bastard I bought it from said everything was fine and gave me the passing paperwork from 12/11. Now I can't get it registered and I don't really have the cash for thousands in repairs.

I was just there today too lol, picked up a cheap universal oilcooler. I got kind of excited when I saw the hyper rev magazines with a 40% discount, sadly only ones left were lancers and legacies.

Yeah, we should go have a fix it for Ren meet!
I'm going to work tomorrow to pick up my check, so I'll ask the best master tech there, my skating buddy! Suprisingly, like half the guys there skate. Hey Ren, are you going to be home tomorrow? I don't have school till 5pm, so maybe I can drop by and give you a hand. ![]() |

haha yeah i ****in hope so.
so check this out guys, i just talked to mixxer about it but i think you will get a kick. so i got the TPS sorted out finally. found a technique on club4ag that helped me out bigtime. thru mixxer i found some posts on the code #51. now what is interesting is that i only get this code with engine running, the diagnostic terminals crossed, and its right after i hit the throttle. so i read this post where this guy had the same exact problem, and the person who responded said that the only reason why the code showed up like that is because he hit the throttle with engine running and terminals crossed. so i double checked and i don't get any codes at all when i have the key to ON and terminals crossed. just when the car is running and i hit the throttle. so i am thinking that maybe this code is just some whack code telling me i have hit the throttle, and maybe i have some vacuum issues somewhere? altho what is weird to me is that the idle only fluctuates when i try to move the timing back before TDC (plus i tried spraying TB cleaner all over the place and it didn't make a difference in the idle). it idles fine (tho a bit a high) otherwise.... ![]() so if it was vacuum wouldn't it idle like crap all the time? or is it possible it is vacuum but it doesn't become an issue until the load on the engine changes (i.e. changing the timing)? im not fully ruling vac out as i messed with a lot of vac lines when i pulled my TB, EGR, and intake manifold. argh. idk. either way i am probably gonna replace most of the vac lines anyway as they are pretty old and fatigued...... |

a while back my idle was also pretty high (about 1500rpm+). Fixed it when I changed plugs, cap/rotor and spark plug wires. Cap and rotor was still fine but since I got a good deal on fleebay, I bought the whole thing anyway. I guess it was the plug wires that were the problem. |
