Awesome Tin... Congratulations buddy... Now get down there and take your stock exhaust off. The other one will pretty much bolt right on. Hope you have some tools. You'll need extension to take the downpipe off so you can have a good leverage loosening the nut.

just caught up peeps...

Davis in regards to EGR, these are my reasons for removing it: i hate engine bay clutter, it dilutes the incoming air/fuel mix (i know not during WOT but i hate the motor being inhibited in any way), the valve is old and corroded and will prob start going out on me soon anyway, and last but not least, because its OBD1 thus because i can

In regards to spark plugs, there are many diff theories. i personally always stick with OEM when u are running stock, just because the plug the factory recommends is based upon the initial design of the motor (compression ratio etc) . when you start playing with stuff and you start increasing the heat produced in the combustion chamber you risk detonation/pre ignition/spark knock. i found this awesome link about it. check it out:
Detonation and Pre-Ignition

Christian , in regards to your suspension, i was a Tire Specialist for a season and you would be surprised how much your car will shake from the tires not being balanced. because your car shakes more as you increase in speed, it sounds to me like your tires just need to be balanced. also i don't know what you have done to your suspension but you could also need new bushings and/or tie rods. if your alignment is outta whack (spec. your toe) and you haven't messed with the suspension then you def wanna look into your tie rods. just my two cents, not claiming to be an expert or anything like that.

Welcome to Texas Mr2 GO NOW!

We shall make a SoCal chat thread there too in the future after we are regulars on there.

I'm getting my car smogged today guys! Wish me luck, I'm not sure she'll pass. But hopefully that new o2 sensor helps. If she passes....time to advance the timing!

You increase the heat even when running colder plugs? I've always wanted to run colder plugs but I have yet to try it. I think it would be good for autox or track days since the car is pedal to the metal most of the time. I'd definitely try colder plugs than hotter plugs to see how/what difference it makes. When my friend told me about it he says its good because it cools faster but didn't get much into details.

Thanks Dorman... I guess its a good thing I let my brother drive today

Drive the car for a while.. Hit the freeway make sure the cat is hot. Do not turn it off when you get to the smog station.

Actually in AutoX most of the time your playing with the gas pedal, there are little bit of straights. If there was a straight it'll turn into a slalom.

Yeah that's what I'm planning to do, hopefully it all works out!

You still put a lot of load on the engine and having high RPMs.

no no you run a colder plug when you increase the heat. if you dont that is when you run the risk of detonation. i like to stick with oem when stock because otherwise you may misfire as the motor isnt designed for that heat range plug. after reading this article i may have to run colder plugs in the 2 after pulling the EGR off as it does cool down the combustion chamber temps when it is working. i am not sure i will have to look into it a lil more.

okay i am really signing off now! see you all later tonight...

Haha I'm just talking about your pedal to the metal comment. I've redlined my car many times out there.

I passed!

EDIT:

I think I might adjust my timing at school. I'll just tell my teacher that my timing is off or something

Or just adjust it anyway. Why do you need him for? Just borrow the tool and do it....
