Sorry to switch gears on ya peeps...but I have an idea slash question...

What do you guys think of starting an official car club. We could call it MR2CCA (MR2 Car Club of America). The idea would to be to eventually create a network similar to the BMWCCA. Organize events, create product/shop discounts, etc...

This would obviously be a daunting task and take some work but we could start it with two chapters. The SoCal Chaper and a Texas Chapter and expand from there. The idea would be to create a network with local shops and companies for sponsorship and discounts and to organize events for people to attended (anything from BBQ's the Track days). What do you guys think?

Nautical Blue and Polished 93 wheels would take the cake.

It sounds like a cool idea Mark, but I don't know about it.

Great idea Dorman... +1 on that. However, that is going to be huge. Not sure if you can get people that would dedicate time and energy through everyone's busy schedule and personal lives.

I know it would take work...but it be totally worth it. We'd have to start with just the SoCal and Texas Communities and move on from there. I think a lot of us are at a point where time is hard to come buy but I'm willing to put the effort in. I don't need everyone to necessarily help make it happen...but I need your guys' support. I'm already talking to the Texas guys and they're up for it. So what do you say SoCal?

I think so too. It's one of those thing that once the ball gets rolling it takes off. Granted it probably would never be as big as BMWCCA since the target group is so much smaller...but it'd still be awesome.

I'm gonna start corresponding with MR2 magazine and see if they're interested in a sponsorship as well...

Plus you know Carmen Concepts is gonna be in on this

Well, this chat thread is cool but how many really active members responds? Between you, me, Davis we probably have 80% of the replies here hehehehe.....

Anyway, lets be optimistic about this. It'll be hard in the beginning and like you said, it'll take off soon enough... Its good we have a lot of members lurking around

The thing of about a car club is not that there are large number constantly involved...but if you put on a couple big events each year and offer a good network/support it will grow. I'm not looking to start another forum.

I'm using the BMWCCA as a model/example...but they don't really have an overly active forum but they still have a ton of members and a good following. The big BMW forum is Bimmerfest...but they are closely connected. So an MR2 car club would have to have connections with the big MR2 chat threads.
