I guess its really up to you if you want them to declare it total. That means your will have a salvage title. On the bright side, you can buy the car back really cheap plus you have about $4K in your pocket. That will sure go a long ways with the car of what you have planned (paint job, swap etc...) I would start compiling history tho just in case you want to sell it in the future and you can show that buyer exactly what happened which is really just minor. Quote:

Look what I found when I got home.
Woot woot.... Here they are and will install it this weekend. I have a Tein SS thats been sitting around for a long time. They are brand spanking new and never used. Little bro used to have a red mr2 that didn't last long and we never got a chance to install it.
This will get me busy for about 2 hours ![]() |

Yeppp, the guy that had it before me just quit. When I was on lunch, he came and got his stuff so when I came back it was empty, so I rolled my tool box there and my master tech was dying
(he has the stall to the left and and oddly enough, the tech working to the right of me is my teachers son haha). |

ill post pics as soon as im done w/ midterms...
ah i miss my 2 alrdy i was gonna tell my tale when i was gonna post pics but ill just say it right now i was taking the ramp of 405 from the 55 southbound and i guess i was goin a bit fast when i finally realize the cars infront were all stopping i pushd on the brakes then my brakes lockd... since i didnt want to hit the van infront of me i turn left forcing me to go out the road. because there was a ditch there... my car was in the air for like split second... and the it hit the ground hard... once on the ground i couldnt feel the brakes so i pulld on the ebrake fast and through that process i was hitting the rail on my left and finally i stop. since there was no other cars involved, the insurance will not take my car away since they dont know about this event, cept the fact i towed my car for having 2 flat tires atm my car is kept at my mechanic place while i ponder what to do. |

aaaahhhh.... not exactly sure if its good or bad not reporting it right away. I remember a while back when I had an accident, I called right away but then I had many options. I thought it was good because they had a record of "same day" of accident. Then they asked me its up to me what I want to do "fix myself" or "go with insurance" and at least they have it on record as pending until I made my decision.. I guess its pretty straight forward from there. As most, I have a 500 deductable. Fixing myself will cost me less, going through insurance, I will still have to pay 500 deductable plus my insurance will go up... So I ended up fixing it myself.
My point is, I guess you might get a hard time trying to claim something that happen in the past and just called to report it a few days/weeks/months later.... |

yea... but my insurance only covers damages done by my car... (is that call liability only?)
so i know for sure insurance would not give me any sort of money even if i do report it... thats why i just chose not to and figure this out myself.... i think imma just use my car as a parts car and get another mr2... but im not too sure yet i could kinda fix it but then again the frame looks damaged... and for sure i would not b able to afford to fix that long scratch (it will be more obvious when i post up the pics) |

Well...do you have comprehensive insurance? If so it might be worth it to file a police report about the accident and blame it on an animal or something and take the insurance money for it and pay your deductible...
Yes Davis...the box is cute and the stall is sweet! Lovin' it... |

Yeah if you have liability then i guess you are pretty screwed. It will cost you way more to fix it than to buy another.... My little bro had one before, spun, hit the sidewalk pretty hard and still decided to fix it. There is a shop here in Norwalk that straightens the frame, I think he paid 1200. Good thing that was it. No body damage or anything but the rear axle/rod broke so i think he spent about 1600 for the whole thing. Then another accident later.. and that one pretty much totalled it... Oh well... he was a kid so what can i say....... He learned from it tho and now driving a GS300
![]() Yeah Chris.. make it a parts car then i'm pretty sure you can sell the clip like that one guy for 300 (front clip) then another 300 rear clip ![]() |

^Oh well...so do you have comprehensive? It still may be worth it to take the hit and get money from it so you can get another car...
