DIY... u can make your own... I watched quite a few on youtube on how to take them out. I've just been lazy to buy the parts. Its going to be like a $5 tool....
youtube: keyword: bushing removal A guy uses a pipe and a long screw with a couple of nuts. |

From what I've learned, when you replace bushings, it's essential to torque the car when it's on the ground. I forgot what the theory was called, but if you torque the control arms while the car is in the air, it causes the bushings to rotate causing it to have a preload of some sort, so when you lower the car down, the bushing is wanting to push up on the cars weight. So all in all, you'll need to do this on an alignment rack.

![]() By the way, I think the bushing kit doesn't really need to be pressed in. If I remember correctly, the new kit comes in like 2 pieces. Half that can be inserted on each side like those engine mount bushing inserts. Last edited by masagsxr; 04-22-2009 at 02:51 AM.. |

lol being small rules!
but yes you are right from what was explained to me the arms must have the correct preload when torqued or it will affect the handling of the car. in essence you want the preload to be exactly what the arms will be under while in use, i.e. the curb weight of the vehicle... |
