so i have decided that the easier way to go about refreshing my motor is to just drop it outta the car. gonna start unhooking/draining in the next week. talked to a buddy who is gonna take care of my head for me. he is also talking to me about cleaning carbon outta the bottom end. i also started stripping the interior out of the car. if anyone wants any NA black cloth stuff let me know. you guys get first dibs. i am soooo excited to bring Shari back to life, i miss her and the canyons so bad it hurts!!!

Good choice Ren.... Exactly what I was telling you at the meet you should do since you are taking the head off anyway. Its way better to do everything for piece of mind rather than just fixing the head, throwing it back on and finding out another problem later.
Don't forget tons of pix to post for this project ![]() |

well i was planning from the get go of doing this right, replacing all the seals etc. but yes you are correct it will make my life a lot easier. plus i can clean the engine bay up a lot easier and get rid of all the oil residue from years of leaks. and having the engine out will make it easier for me to remove the AC and other things that i don't need
yes there will be lots of pics..good idea! all i need is my freakin tax return and i can order my parts from Aaron... |

You need to take the car to a qualified shop that can evacuate the system. Venting to the atmosphere is bad for the enviroment and is illegal. Come on Mark she can't catch it in a bottle!
The AC system is highly pressurized! |

Not sure if you guys remember. There was this vibration and we were thinking it was from the clutch or maybe just the tranny plate cover from underneath. Check on that Ren.

umm yes of course i was planning on taking it to a qualified shop and having them evac the system for me!
dorman i have decided "f" it i am used to rolling without AC anyway so i might as well just take it out. saves a lot of weight.... oh yeah and Mixxer i still think that sound is my trans not the flywheel. i was having that sound before the clutch was done. it sounds like gear lash to me. before i get the car started again i am gonna throw some Lucas or Synchromesh in there and see if that eliminates the sound... but i will check it out while i have the motor out and its accessible. i don't know how good of a job javier did on my clutch so i was planning on scrutinizing it anyway.... |

Highly doubt it, they do have to pay to get the refrigerant guy to come pick it up and get it recycled.

Well that sucks...you'd think the Government would pay for that kind of stuff. Then again...it's not like they're really into saving the environment anyways...

*sigh* Wish my boss gave me full time, I'm bored as hell staying at home.
And since I'm trying not to spend money, even more so! ![]() |
