Holy crap, that Camry would be an awesome GS AutoX car!
What do you mean it's alot of work? Only the outside is black. And they still left the red on without sanding it down first. ![]() Couple of the techs at work have some badass RC cars that they mess around with when there's no work. I would get one myself, but they spend alot on theirs. |

Haha your right, But I think it's going to be another money pit! I know the first thing I'd do to it, TRD lip kit.

I don't think I would pull the motor out, having a v6 5-speed Camry is just badass.
I'll make it into my GS car for kicks! or was it HS. On a side note. This guys avatar on houston-imports.com made me EL OH EL. |

^Tight!!!
______________ Davis...I've thought about that. Could you use 3sge cams in a 5s? You could always build the bottom end of a 5s with high comp pistons and such then see if you can get some 3rd gen 3sge cams (if they'd work). Buying Ren's 5s won't work because she's gonna retire the car. You can always pick up my extra 5s stuff. It'll be in pieces anyways since I'm using the block in my Dad's car's rebuild. So i'll have an extra engine (complete) that'll need a full rebuild anyways if you're interested. |

I doubt the 3sge cams will work. I believe the 3s has 2 cams where the 5s only has 1. You will need to just put a 3s head on a 5s block and go that why just like the 5sgte build that Christian posted.

They're both twin cam designs. I was thinking 3rd Gen 3SGE (non-turbo) cams. Since the 5s and 3s are both S-series motors I figured there's a good chance of working. I think you have to do some modifications to put the 3s head on the 5s block...that's why I was just thinking cams. The 3rd Gen 3sge put out 177 hp...so with a 2.2 bottom end you should get close to that with better torque yeah

Yeah it's not going to work due to the different head designs.
EDIT: I wish I didn't do the power to manual rack conversion. I'm itching to put Mindy back to stock, so I can run her in ES. Oh well, SST for this and maybe half of next season and then I'll go into CSP. Last edited by Davis; 06-21-2009 at 12:15 PM.. |

3s cams will not work in the 5s. the 5s has 2 cams but only 1 cam gear. They are run off another gear on the cam to spin them both located directly on the cam.
![]() and the 3s dose not. also if you want to put the 3s head of 5s block it requires you to redo alot of coolent and oil passages. Its ALOT of work. |
