anyone know what has to be done in order to import a vehicle from mexico into the US? the car is a 1969 datsun 510

Probably need to pay Customs... Then whatever DMV fees etc... Check DMV website.

thats what im looking for just wanna get info
cuz we are driving back and might bring the 510 with us but need to know what to do to pass the border with it.. and see if the dmv will let us.... its a 69 or 70 so no smog right? |

yup.. no smog.. i think cutoff is '73... U should call the local dmv there or here in cali and ask or the border patrol or something...

by the way, when you crossed the border with you guys ride what did they ask? You could easily just transfer those california plates to there right? I'm assuming its ok to cross the datsun then you'll just have to deal with the california DMV fees.

nothing we got a special permit at the border...
i guess we can do the same idk yet they are hard to find in cali.. well one completely stock! so my dad wants to take one back ![]() over here its old school heaven ![]() |

There was a blue 510 that parked in front of me the other day, so clean, I left him a note saying how nice and clean it was.

car cost 20,000 pesos which is like 1700 dollars running and in 8/10 condition my dad still has yet to negotiate with the owner so weŽll see if the price can be dropped on that dime..
has almost all original parts, runs and whatnot my dad is thinking about it though.. im trying to convince him ha ha Davis i come back the 18th hopefully!! hell yeah i know some place that makes menudo bu only before 10 am.. my dad knows all the good mexican places in LA ![]() |

There are a few 510 on craigslist alex.. You might want to check those out before paying that amount there then tons of fees here in cali.

Datsun 510's are cool. They have independent rear suspension and all that jazz. Pretty high tech for an old car. Fun to drive.
So i'm still in the moving process so I haven't done anymore work on the V6...but once I get my stuff into storage it'll be on!!! I'm sad I've had to wait this long. But oh well...I still need to get a flywheel .So I think I might end up doing a 3rd Gen 3S-GE swap into a car for my brother. I'm gonna be looking for a MKII with a non running engine. Then I wanna stroke a the 3s and see what kind of power it makes. I think i could get it up to 185 at the crank (give or take). Plus I could disguise it to look smog legal / ... |
