I actually live next to the spectrum on the laguna side and went to ivc so I know the pure evil that is the irvine police. As far as the CHP go I know many of the ones stationed in SJC and have been on 3 ride-alongs, don't worry about them outside of LA. As long as your engine labor says 3S-GTE you have a turbo motor just like a stock one. As long as you don't have a bunch of shiny objects under the hood and maybe a stock exhaust manifold, not that bad on a Gen III, you should be fine. I have a lot done cosmeticslly but they can't write tickets for that. Just say it comes stock with the engine. The worst would be an exhaust fix it ticket. Basically don't let the cops be a reason to not get the awsome ass Gen III motor.

I live across the street from IVC. The cops here don't bother me, even though I used to have a really koud single exit so I guess I'm pretty lucky.

Thought about being a CHP but my credit wasn't good enough. my dad is friends with the creator ofvthe show CHiPs so they asked me to apply. They aren't jerks like most police and the OC sheriff. Plus there are so many idiots on the road that it's fun getting to pull them over and tell them it. Alas I am still a lab tech for cancer and diseas research so it's not so bad. As far as having loud car in irvine and being ok? Pure luck! Lol

That's a big plus. What sucks is that it takes forever to get through the hiring process. What stage are you at? Written, physical, interveiw, background....?

Very very true. Irvine PD are such a pain! They think any modified import is a street racer. Lame! Luckily, when cops are around me, they just look at the car and try to figure out what it is...hahaha. I did have a cop give me the thumps up once which was kinda cool.

That is cool of that cop, he prob wasn't irvine pd. I hear you though but it isn't just cops, when I went across the country people in general don't know what it is. I mostly got porsche. It must be the pheonix power body kit and headlight conversion.

Haha, everytime I've gotten pulled over in Irvine the officer has complemented me on both the car and how it sounds

I even told one the truth once when he asked, because I was late to a midterm and he followed me for a few blocks so I was pretty sure I was going to get a ticket...
Him: "You know your exhaust is pretty loud, right?"
Me: "Yeeah, sorry about that sir."
Him: "Where'd you get it?"
Me: "UMM...I bought from KO Racing, a store in Oregon that specializes in MR2 parts. This one was hand made. I used to go racing at the track a lot, but not anymore."
Him: "I'll be right back."

10 minutes later...

Him: "Your brake light is out, and you should call Progressive because it looks like they haven't sent you your new insurance card. Fix the brake light."

Seriously, I guess I have a lot of luck when it comes to getting pulled over. I have a Fujitsubo now, so I don't even get looked at twice.

Send a message via Yahoo to SF-Jim
Hi everyone,

Been a while since I've been on the board, but I'm hoping someone here can help me with some local knowledge. I'm trying to keep my MKII mostly stock and the original rims that I have just look terrible. The brake dust has been baked on and I can't get seem to get it off. The paint on a couple of the center caps are just peeling off as well, so does anyone know a place where I can get it repainted for a decent price?

I tried a rim repair place in Anaheim and they said it was $375 to repaint all four rims, which I thought was ridiculously high.

Thanks.

DIY buddy.... everything you need to know is here or on Google. You just need a little patience... You can get rim/wheel paint at local store and you an do it yourself.
