Damn.. I can't believe this week went by quick....

Ji: Whats up with CL? Can't get in to make a post. Driving my SC this morning cruising to work. Turned on the fan (heater) since its pretty cold. About 2miles later, check engine went on .... Lunch time I stopped by local shop (PepBoys) to get the code. Its P0430 (Catalytic Bank 2).... I'm not sure if the guy reset it but all of a sudden, no more check engine light. I guess its a sign anyway that the O2 sensor is going bad (hopefully not the cat itself). I'd rather pay the $200 O2 sensor than an $800 cat from the dealer.

I don't know. I've been having a lot of problems logging into CL the last few days. I think there is something wrong with the site.

The O2 sensor is super sensitive. I was having that problem too. Not sure if I told you. The bank2sensor2 on the GS went bad. It did the same thing to me too. The CEL went on, then turned off, still pulled the code. A few days later it came back on and stayed on. Definitely a sign that the sensor is going bad. I felt the same way too! I was like, ohh PLEASE DON'T BE THE CAT!!!

I just got a new toy for the GS! I'll post pics after I get it and install.

Yeah.. the site is being flaky... Oh well.... I guess time to visit Kerry if the CEL comes on again.

New toy eh. hhmmmm... I'm saving up for another trip. Going to Philippines in January to attend a wedding... Damn all this trip is using up what i'm saving for the SC... I guess she'll just have to wait a little longer for her makeover

I wish I can swap in a 3sgte Kelvin! But that would put me in SM2 with all the scary Corvettes, RX-7s, and M3s.

Haha Thanks Dennis, but since the slice was right at where the finger bends, it's going to take awhile for it to fully heal.

That sucks Mix, hope it aint the cat!

Hope so too.. I'll use the car and maybe just keep driving around and see if the CEL comes back on.

C'mon man.. do the upgrade. Be more competitive. Skip a couple of steps. Thats the only way you can improve your skills . You won't go anywhere if you stay where your at.

I am being competitive! My goal is to catch up to the miatas! If I swap in a 3sgte I'll still be a guy with 200hp with relatively stock suspension racing guys with $20k and over of upgrades in Corvettes! That then gives me an excuse to say i'm slow because I don't have as much power they have, but with the miatas, there are no excuses beside that my car isn't built to the class specs. Soon will be though and I'll still be slower.

I thought motor swaps that were available in the cars would still be eligible for b stock? Only thing you'd be at a slight disadvantage with na brakes

Damn Davis, sucks about your finger man. I hope it heals faster with some Neosporin.

Okay, so I've been trying to fix my desktop for the last week. Finally just said F*** it and reformatted. So much better than working on a laptop all the time!

Damn Mix, the Philippines! Thats awesome. I would travel if I didn't hate flying so much!

Davis answered that question before if I remember correctly. Stock MR2-T is in a different class or something than where Davis is at right now. I forget which category... But hey Davis, I know you have your goals. I guess its just something you need to look over on the drawing board.

1. How is your car?
2. Does it have enough power to be in that class you are in?
3. What do you need to change?

When I was doing track days on motorcycle, I felt like I had already pushed my bike (03 GSXR 600) to its limit. However, I still see other 600cc bikes still pass me. Well before anything else, this are just regular track days. No class, all CCs etc but we all know everyone stills try to be competitive. Anyway, so I still see other folks pass me with their 600cc motorcycle so I wonder what I need to change. Don't get me wrong here. I do pass other guys that are on 750-1k and even 1300 (hayabusa) its just the guys that are on the same CC as mine that gets to me ..... Anyway, I would chat with some instructors to get an idea whats up. They would say play with the gearing (front and rear sprocket) combinations, don't lean too much and keep the bike straight as possible. Follow someone's line and adjust your riding posture/style etc..... Late braking is cool but it takes a lot for the bike to pick up speed coming out of a turn so its better to slow down by letting off on the throttle then open it up coming out of a turn.... Late braking would be good if you are trying to overtake someone because that vehicle behind you would need to slow down anyway. Of course you need to take into consideration passing/overtaking safetly. Whoever is trying to pass is his job to overtake safetly and the vehicle in front to try to save his position but also should know when to give up his spot....

Thats just some of the stuff I wanted to share with you guys when I used to ride a lot and do track days. I'm pretty sure its the same concept for car(s).... Get a list of stuff from instructors what are the most you can do to stay in that class since it seems like you don't want to be bumped up on a much faster class. You have to ask yourself tho, is it worth it? You don't want to be spending like $10K+ to stay in that class and still not getting the performance you want when you could have spent that to have a much better motor, suspension etc... know what I mean? Well, good luck buddy...

Still up eh? heheheee... What was wrong with the desktop? I told you to stay away from those website(s) LoL .. Yep, reformatting is the best way to go. A lot of the time I would be able to save my computer since after all I've been doing this thing for quite some time . Its very easy if you know what you are doing but if you are press for time and just want it done, I'd just save all the files I need and immediately reformat or reimage. I always keep a clean image of my computer(s) just in case it takes a crap. Its so much faster than reinstalling everything from scratch

Yup, Philippines. Only thing I don't like when flying is those turbulences hehehe but I try not to think about it...

Crystal was the one surfing the web and downloaded it. I was watching TV and she said, "Can you com here. I think something is wrong with the computer, there are a lot of pop-ups." I was like greattt...what did you download. She unknowingly downloaded something off a bad link. Its all fixed now.

Congrats Dorman!

Actually when I first started I was about 10seconds slower than the slowest guy and now I'm 3-5 seconds slower than the slowest guy. I already know what I need, I just need the money to make it all work haha, it will be one fun car when I'm done though.

Engine swaps puts you right in with the big boys, SM or SM2. The Street Prepared class though, allows you to update/backdate. Like for example, an 85NA with an 89 Supercharged engine. It's legal because the 85NA and 89 Supercharged cars are in the same Street Prepared catergory, CSP. Same goes for the CSP Miata guys, early 90's Miata with a 99' engine = lighter weight + more power. The NA MK2 in CSP and the Turbo is in ASP, no go.

I'm shooting for a CSP MK2.

EDIT:

Oh thanks Ji! It's going to be awhile till it heals, meanwhile I'm pretty much handicapped at work..it sucks!

I think it depends on the motor, if you swapped in an economy v6 then yea you'd be in sm2, but if you put in a 3s that was available within the mr2 then you should go to the class that turbo mr2's were in. What are the mod allowances in csp from estock?

If you search in the AutoX section on MR2oc (where I'm mostly at lurking. ) there's a bunch of threads of people asking what class they'll be in if they swap a stock turbo engine into an NA and all the AX gurus say SM2.

Hmm there's alot more you can do in CSP than ES, I'll just post it. SCCA Solo I & II Street Prepared Classification Rules:

Hey Mix, not sure if you saw this notice on CL:
Notices
We really want to apologize for the downtime suffered over the last two days. Unfortunately our Internet Brands network was targeted with a series of cyber attacks that severely limited access over this time period. Our tech team has worked around the clock to resolve the issue. We absolutely appreciate your patience and understanding and do apologize for the inconvenience caused by the attack.
