yeah some of those corners demand you get no higher than 2nd gear...
but at night its a different story ![]() i know that canyon well and feel a bit more comfortable when i can see headlights coming still scared ****less of coming across deer or gravel tho cuz if u r going too fast then its "good night" no matter how well you know the road |

just went through a local canyon to get some new wheels, I thought I had enough clearance but ended up shredding my driver rear. Not catastrophic, but I need to work that fender!

actually it was worse than I thought, fortunately it gives me an excuse to put on the new rims! Its kind of nostalgic because those very wheels were off of another 20v aw11 owned by a good friend of mine who moved overseas

i really really really miss my canyons
![]() even wrote another piece about it...enjoy... (new freestyle) cannot for the life of me ****ing sleep the gears in my head just won't stop turning yearning for apexes and curves racing the birds towards the heavens embracing the mountains words cannot describe the longing i feel in my soul i feel whole when rubber and steel are at my command embrace the wheel in my hands twisting and turning nature's demands and lady luck are my only concerns discerning my beloved free from thinking all instinct like breathing or blinking chase the sun till its sinking then into the night you try to follow all you see are taillights and im gone smiling at your feeble attempts repeat your rinsed out style is spent long before i've even started so go join the other ricers and dearly departed ill say a prayer for you next time we meet just as soon as i have her back on her feet i anticipate that day like a kid's christmas already have a mile long wish list a never ending process this game we play but i wouldn't have it any other way |

I've never driven through the canyons. They're quite a ways from me anyway. One of my closer favorite drives is 173 to 138 up to Crestline/Lake Arrowhead. A lot of people have pulled over for me as I attack the corners and still have some momentum when I encounter traffic (damn narrow two lane mountain roads). I always make sure to wave and thank them each time too. It's a fun experience. Sometimes I'll go down the 18 as it becomes Waterman Ave., but that's usually where all the crazy people are.
A 350Z and Supra blew past me and hit those corners at like 90mph. I was like, uh, I don't have the tires for that, nor the will to see my life flash before me. The rear has stepped out on me enough times to tell me that's a no-no. ![]() A while ago, before the road collapsed from storm damage, I used to take the 2 from Wrightwood about halfway to Glendale, then turn around. That was another one of my favorites. |
