FUEL RAIL and INJECTOR type/size

I read that passed 275whp it is recommended to get an upgraded FUEL RAIL .....so if i have a gen 2 motor 1993 jdm from i hear its the same as a 93 gen 2 us motor.. so what type of fuel rails are recommended ? Depending what fuel rail i get.. then i can get either side or top fed injectors right ? Can someone review and give me a lil backround thanks.

You should consider fueling and engine control upgrades earlier than that, actually.

You have two choices: Top-feed or Side-feed. You can usually get used side-feeds for fairly inexpensive, although top-feeds are definitely cheaper when talking new injectors.

www.wolfkatz.com supplies well-made rails for both of these types of injectors, at a very similar price. I highly recommend them.

The background comes from the stock rail's very small bore. It causes a pressure drop across the rail when using a larger pump. That pressure drop can change the fueling as much as 10%! Hence, the need for a larger rail when you get a larger pump.

If you are using larger injectors, then the stock pump is almost maxxed out, so it's recommended to buy a larger pump when going to larger injectors.

So, more power means bigger injectors, which means a bigger pump, which means a better fuel rail.

At 380 - 400 rwhp, you are beyond 550 cc injector capabilities. If I were you, I would go 84 pound top-feeds. The Nemesis' internal peak/hold injector drivers controls those big injectors BEAUTIFULLY. I have tuned that combination with fantastic results.

You are right, we are getting off topic. I just sent you email.

You need to talk to the folks at Wolfkatz and have them set you up with a fuel system capable of supporting the power level you are looking for.
