MS 1 v3.0 EDIS

which coil to use.

Accel 4 tower edis
MSD 4 tower
stock ford

what is confusing is that the accel coil says 89-98 and the msd one says 95-98 does anyone know if there is a difference.

all the MS sites say use stuff off an early 90's ford escort etc... for edis

also what plugs should i use. This is going on a 5sfte.

if anyone cares here is my megasquirt running an edis module and 4 tower coil. Hope to have this working in the car in a few weeks or so. Does anyone else have a 5sfte on a standalone??

I don't know whether there is a difference or not. I am also on MS (though mine is a 4AGE) and just today got rid of the distributor in favor of an EDIS coil from a Contour of unknown year. I am not using the EDIS module (MS controls the coil pack directly) so I just grabbed whatever EDIS coil I could find and didn't worry about compatibility.

I've heard even the stock Ford coils put out a pretty good zap, so you might just run the one you have until it proves incapable of firing under heavy boost.

I don't think you need EDIS to use MS. I just ordered my kit and i'm going to be cutting teeth off the distributor 24 tooth wheel and using that for position sensing.

and yes, 5sfte here too, we should get to know each other since we're blazing a trail here

the edis setup works better than the stock dizzy. ive also heard of problems when grinding off the teeth, some kid with a 3sgte celica couldn't get it 100% working right. i have an extra distributer if you want so you can hack it up.
