Anyone with a running megasquirt on a blacktop 20v 4age?

I have a Megasquirt ECU that I've never used here, and since I just picked up a blacktop 20v 4age, which came without the ECU, I think I'd rather just wire up the Megasquirt and play around with it. Rather than starting from scratch here, I was hoping I could trouble someone to share a base setup that would work to at least start up and drive around. I don't know a heck of a lot about programming standalone ECUs at this point, but I'm starting to read through all the FAQ's on the Megasquirt page. The wiring itself shouldn't be too challenging.

If there's anything crucial I should know before I begin here, I'd appreciate the heads up. Thanks!

Not too many people running MS 20v on this board. For a base map, look on club4ag. If you want to run a distributor, one from a 1990 tercel will fit. The advantage is that it has a 4tooth pickup which works better with ms.

ms doesn't run this very well at all. I did a temp-compensated alpha-n setup on a 20 valve using ms. I've never been a huge fan of MS, as you probably know. The project interested me though, as it was different than most other things I usually tune.

MS doesn't have very good flyback protection at ALL. The VVT coil was enough to cause reboots. Trigger issues were all over the place. I think there was some conditioning we did to fix that because there apparently is no internal VR conditioning. I got acceptable drivability and performance out of it. The throttle response was unreal, but ITBs generally produce this quite well. MS doesn't allow you access to the temp compensation corrections, so temp compensation sort of sucked in the winter. There wasn't much I could do outside of trying my luck on someone's half-assed code from the forum to unlock this. I didn't want to go that route.

All in all, it delievered on the cost, but man was it problematic!

^It's the linux of engine management systems.

I don't like it too much because of all the failed ae86 20v projects I get to wire for. Wait, or maybe I do like it.
