The megasquirt is a good system, but I'm not sure you guys realize how much work you'd be getting into installing a megasquirt system.

DIYAutoTune.com Megasquirt Kits / Assembled Engine Management Systems, Wideband o2 Sensor Systems and tuning products

Browse around the site, read everything you can, they even let you download the software. Crack it open, see if it's really what you want.

It sounds like you guys read too much into that ONE blog article about how a Greddy emanage was blamed for blowing up a lexus - how many engines do you think megasquirt is "responsible" for destroying (or was it user error...)? If you're doing something stupid it doesn't matter if its a piggyback like an SAFC or a $$$ Motec standalone.

Standalone's are awesome, but have you ever used one? Not all of them are very user friendly. I'm not saying don't buy the megasquirt, hydra, AEM, Haltech, ect. I'm saying know why you're buying it.

Before you decide please consider reading through Pressure's posts on his 5SFTE powered celica.
6G Celicas Forums > How to Turbo your 5S-FE

and here:
300rwhp 5sfte

and read mrturrari's smt-6 install:
93 5sfe - SMT6 installed and working

For what it's worth, I like the emanage blue so far, it's done everything I've asked it too. No it's not perfect, but it fits my current goals for my car.

Most likely the MegaSquirt Stand alone because the MSD retards the timing and youll blow your motor at that psi..thats what i was discussing with someone else a while ago. and bigger injecors than the 315cc from the 7mge your going to need the 7mgte denso's that are 440cc

I don't follow your post, sorry.

The msd btm retards timing under boost, that's usually a good thing, you'll probably end up doing the same thing with the megasquirt - but what does that have to do with psi?

Please also remember that 10psi on a CT26 is not comparable to 10psi on a T3/T4.

Yes, with a T3/T4 you could easily overwork the 315cc injectors. The 7M turbo injectors are low impedance and I think from 1990 on they were side feed. Why not use the drop in (top feed, high impedance) RX-7 denso's that come in the 460cc and 550cc flavors and save yourself some trouble? I don't know the part numbers off the top of my head, but I'm sure they're somewhere on this site.

The megasquirt can do A LOT for you, much more than just retarding timing and adjusting fuel curves. Their site is really pretty good, go check out the software and get an idea of all the features you'll be able to tune with.

That's why you pay to have someone who knows what the hell they're doing tune your car. If you can't afford that and the computer then you can't afford an engine management system.

Buying a piggyback is just as stupid as buying a computer you don't either have the knowledge or money to tune properly.
