Well my Tuner says my Greddy is too much problems for my 5sfte and that i should get somthing else and sell my greddy. So my question is. Is the megasquirt any good to use one the 5sfte? Has anyone used one??

My Google Map

The megasquirt is the DIY solution to engine management, they are a good product if you know what you are doing, you can buy kits or assembled boards. I would buy the kit and solder it up on my work bench but that is me, I have a bit of electrical know how despite what I thought about what I used to think I knew

It does have a lot of features but be prepared to spend some late nights on the simulation mode just tinkering with the variables seeing what works and what doesn't. I have not spent more than 5 minutes with one but it is the same as any stand alone setup you have some fuel maps and ignition maps on the screen in front of you and you tune them according to different variables to make a 3d/4d/5d....up to however many dimensions you like within reason. I looked at the maps for my uncles drag car once, I think it hurt my brain enough that permanent damage was done

It is just one of those things where the more you know the better off you will be in the long run. Getting an engine running on a stand alone setup is easy, getting it running correctly to make horsepower without damaging the engine is the difficult part. That is why dyno time is expensive, your paying for collective knowledge from a lot of expensive engines (and a lot of expensive f*** ups)

I waited a long time bidding on 5462 and 6462 BTMs and still payed $195 for a new but opened 5462. It was almost not worth the little $ I saved to hold out for such a long time.

my tuner dont mind. said its really good if you sit down and tune it right.
he also said that if i got with aems stanalone its going to go for like 1200 and it'll be a direct plug in to my harness and alot more options so i been thinking about putting the emanage on sale too.

My Google Map

I wish I had a dyno so i could do this sort of thing properly, at the moment it is just a long straight road and 4th gear under load. Its alright but you have to look where your going XD Possum Bourne (NZ champion rally driver and tuner) used to test on the same road before he could afford a crew, it has historical testing rights

Probably sometime this summer, Im rebuilding my old 5s from bottom up. Im still tryin to figure out all I need. Im lookin at a t3/t4 turbo kit for the 3s. What do you suggest? Also I have been told about the Megasquirt stand alone, but not enough to make a decision on it. Which is cheaper?? MSD or Megasquirt? Which is better?

MSD is cheaper and Megasquirt is better. With the MSD you can only modify timing a cetain amount per psi and no control over fuel. The Megasquirt (I belive) has better adjustment for timing and control over fuel.

Garret dont go cheap. and the MegaSquirt is better for running 10+psi and for a built motor and the msd just for low boost..So if you plan to actaully build it and try to get high numbers go MegaSquirt, if not the MSD can get you by
