I am goign to go with aem, because I can get a great deal on one and there are so many more professional tuners that tune them.

you need the AIT (Air Intake Temp) GM part, and the MAP Sensor from GM
and if you want, you can use a boost solenoid from GM to have the AEM control the boost electronically |

If I get the car professionally tuned is it still a good idea to have a wideband?
Also what about regular gauges such as oil temp. |

its actually something you should have...
Make sure you got the port to plug the wideband in on the downpipe and most of the time dyno shops will have the wdieband units on site. So yea IAT and MAP ![]() |

Use the AEM MAP, not the GM one. I have seen them wonder on me. The GM IAT also has quality issues, (surprise, surprise) but it is at least usable after you test it. Measure the resistance vs. temp values of your sensor before using it.
The AEM EMS is incapable of operating in closed-loop using your narrowband. This is one of the big drawbacks of the system. If you ever want to be in closed loop, you need a wideband. Some argue a well-mapped EMS doesn't need to operate in closed-loop. I beg to differ. This might be the case with race gas, but pump gas varies quite a bit! You will also need this: http://mrcontrols.com/products/matplate.htm It puts the IAT in one of the best places possible. Don't forget the sensor pigtails for the MAP and IAT. |
