I'm going with a FULL-RACE KIT... NOthing beats their quality and proven performance... Their manifolds are the best IMHO...

HKS GT2835
Came across this turbo just recently. I believe it is a bolt-on turbo, rated to around 400hp. It think it's meant to be for the same power/usage "class" as the Blitz K1-380v and Power Enterprise PE1919t.
Pics: ![]() ![]() ![]() --V Edit: My bad, it is not a twin volute/scroll. Here's a pic of the up-pipe/exhaust manifold side. ![]() ![]() Last edited by Vaeth; 02-18-2006 at 08:04 AM. |

I found this page: http://border-racing.com/border-web-...2835_turbo.htm
More info here: http://www.hks-power.co.jp/products/...gt28/gt28.html but it is not info specific to the SW20 version of the turbo, just about the HKS GT2835 in general. And yup, the turbo is currently in my possession. --V |

No, no, I'm keeping my Blitz. The above HKS GT2835 is not mine. I just got it for someone from the Aus MR2 board from the 2nd hand shops here. It's just sitting in my house until I ship it off.

Yup. Incidentally, to add to the above info, this Turbo coast 160,000 yen and has done 12,000km. I guess being a "2nd hand price" it's not exactly a good indication of what it's usual going rate is...but it's all I have to go by.

Yeah, that's pretty high. But it seems to be the going rate for most aftermarket "bigger" turbos for the SW20. This is the first HKS GT2835 I've seen, so I don't know about the price history, but for other turbos for example:
Blitz K1 cost 90,000 - 120,000 (My was 112,000 with no downpipe either) TD06 - Seen one for 140,000-ish (but included wastegate, and manifolds) P1919t - Haven't seen one personally myself, but was told that one went for 180,000-ish Anyway, enough hijacking by me. ![]() |

An EMS, no
It comes with an ATS Rom Tune. Read about it here..... http://www.atsracing.net/atstunedrom.htm If you wanted to go outside the preset plug and play stuff, then yes, you would need a tunable EMS, if not, you will have to send the Rom Tune back for reprogramming every time you change something Major like cams or the turbo. |

ok cool so then that would be a very good kit for mr thanks again. For the 300-400whp range what do you think would be cheaper piece together everything or buy a kit such as the ATS. From what i have been reading looks like the ats kit is the way to go.

And as far as the greddy kits. They were originally built as a pure bolt on upgrade solution. So they figured people would retain a stock/stock like exhaust. The downpipe is not that bad at all so long as it's braced (like any other downpipe). The oil feed and return is the main concerns. Feed, being too large causing premature turbo failure. And the oil return being rubber and not having a high enough heat resistance running so close to the downpipe that it crack prematurely. The older greddy kits were fine so long as you ran a minimum of 14psi (most would creep up to about that). It seems like the kits being sold lately from greddy don't have creep issues. A number of people that were installed by Danny at Integrity-Auto reports no creeping issues, mine as well as some others that recently installed them have no creep issues either. However, unless you can find a used kit at a very good price, i'd recommend going with the ATS kit. Also, their rom tunes are compatible for either the greddy tdo6 and theirs as it utilizes the same turbo type. (not from the same manufacturer though as the ATS kit is watercooled). Man...i spend too much time on mr2 forums...oh well Last edited by Sang; 07-19-2006 at 11:09 PM. |
