mr2ya, you're arguing with one of MR2Board's most knowledgeable members. Sang has done nothing since he's been here but try and help members to the best of his ability. He does it for the person he's helping, not for himself. I'd really suggest that if you don't want advice, don't ask for it. I'd hate to see someone like Sang get fed up with the community and not stick around because of a thread like this one.

sorry but
everything i have said is how i feel and is what ive learned over the years I have very good contacts (i mean close friends in the biz) and alot of import knowledge in general myself (not just mr2's) never asked advice. got it all figured out (most all) can not say this about beams engine (dont know much about it) this is why i even signed up i've not been on board long but have owned my mr2 7-8 yrs. just can not tell someone yeah go buy greddy kit for $2000 you'll be happy. when better solutions are out there thought thats what this board was all about. helping people not make the same mistakes we may have made. maybe im wrong |

Hopefully
Yeah It's a road race car and I take the philosophy keeping the revs low to reduce the heat in the tranny and motor. The 16g should by far outflow the stock dying CT26 that was on there. And when I need to upgrade to a GT turbo all I need to do is order a bolt-on setup from Slowboy for $1100.00 and change it out in one day. Then I'd have a $1424.00 Ball bearing GT turbo on my MR2 with a 3" downpipe that I built myself. Of course the stock manifold becomes a restriction at some point.
On the track that I race at I felt myself punching a lot from 3rd gear at 3-3200 rpms. WIth a larger turbo I'd be downshifting through these sections and stabbing from a higher rpm, which surely would be harder to drive. Funny thing is, I had the intercooler piping from my EVO (and an HKS SS BOV) and made it all work with a stock layout boost elbow from the 16g and the Ebay knockoff interecooler piping. I don't think anyone here is going to beat my car around a track for $4000.00 total investment since the car was only 700.00 It's kinda Ironic, I sell my LS6 powered RX-7 to a guy in Prague and replaced it with an MR2 turbo racecar AND and EVO. haha. Thank God for inginuity. Patrick |

The point of my posts were, and has been, that greddy "turbos" are not bad. That does not mean go buy a greddy kit, you can go to hahn racecraft and buy the same turbo for less money. -Sang |

It's impossible (and useless) to compare DIY prices, because everyones situation is different. The .50 a/r 56trim 3071 you mentioned... what exhaust wheel? 53.8mm, 56.5mm or 60mm? Only the 60mm is a true GT30, the others will choke on the exhaust side long before the compressor will. I love the TD06, it's incredibly reliable, and affordable. That said, my current project is a twinscroll 3076. I like the GT stuff too ;-) It was a very hard decision. I was very tempted to just go the 3082 route, make my 560 wheel and be happy, but I gotta do things different apparently... |

DIY turbo kit.
there is a little more skill needed. but prices im suggesting are all retail as you can find deals on everything haveing a friend that has a chop saw and can weld halfway decent is needed and no not everyone has such friends you should not under take this DIY idea if such friends are not available to you or if it can't be done yourself |

Please stop posting, you're only annoying people now. If you were truly more intelligent than the people you're arguing with, your posts would be coherent.
