Downpipes
As I did with the Turbo Upgrade Kits, I figured I would keep going and do some research on down pipes for the MR2 mk2 turbo. No prices as the prices I’m sure change over time. If you know of a down pipe that I didn’t find or post, please feel free to pm me and ill update the list.

Watch out for those ebay specials! I have installed a couple different ones (this also includes the ssautocrap's manifold), and they all have required minor changes to unit....IE did not bolt on perfectly...
again i would go with companys that work with alot of mr2s....berk is a great company but they havent really been around latly which sucks cause there downpipes rock. I am pritty sure you will be seeing a JP Autoworks one come out too...all with better pricing and quality then whats out there ![]()

Pheonix, do you mind if moderators edited your original post as reviews on each pipe come in ? This may include quality and customer service opinions on each company.

Shouldn't we at least post a warning about Extreme Boost's business practices?

drpaine - Thanks for that info! ill edit it Alex - i had thought about putting that in the post already, but i didnt want to start a debate or this thread becoming a "slam LB" thread. I think that should be included with the product reviews when i get a little more info from admin. |

I just bought one of SS autocrap's DPs off of ebay. I'll comment on fitment once I get it installed (or don't.)
The quality actually looks very good. the welds are clean and it came with a generous hardware/gasket kit. The two major complaint about these seem to be fitment issues and the wastegate not being able to open far enough. I'm optimistic. It looks great. I also bought the Tanabe "downpipe," which is actually a b-pipe that replaces the secondary cat and bolts to the stock exhaust. I'm going to have a straight-pipe made that will bolt up the the flange so that I can take off my stock exhaust and run it wide open when I'm feeling rowdy. I can get better pictures of both the SSAC DP and the Tanabe b-pipe if anyone is interested. |

That's some good info and I would defenitly stay away form extreme boost. You can't change the stripes on a zebra. Also I like the one with the Cat it would help with the smog issues. I have never heard if they are any good.

Yep.. I got it wrapped with Thermo-tec 2" header wrap, and then sprayed with Thermo-tec's 2000deg header wrap spray. It doesn't bling, but I'm going to cover it up with the stock heatshield anyway. I'll be out of town until next Wednesday, but I'll post up pics then. The bottom flange doesn't look to exactly match up with the Tanabe b-pipe, but we're talking less than 1/8" gap. I didn't really try too hard, and the Tanabe is still flopping around, so we'll see next week. Review to come for the dp, bpipe and MR coilovers. |
