What is the price on each one? I bought one off ebay that looks EXACTLY like the Greddy - same dimensions same size ports, & everything, for $150. Its a "no-name" brand, but I have no doubt it will work for 90% of Gen 2 mr2's on the street. Most guys cant afford to produce enough horsepower to need a super high flow intercooler, so unless you like spending tons of money just to have the "cool name" on your car, the no-name intercooler is probably going to work for you.
I'm not knocking the name brands. They are great intercoolers, but just like all import parts, when a name becomes popular, or "cool" they suddenly want a ton of money for their product. So you are paying for the "name" not the part. If you are going to make 500+ WHP then I would go with a name brand. Most guys dont have 6-12 thousand dollars to sink in a motor to produce that much HP. Even the "no-name" intercoolers like I bought are an improvement over stock, so if you are building a car for the street & doing some minor mods to it to get an extra 100 HP or so, I would suggest the more affordable no-name intercoolers, unless you have got money to burn, or you can find a good used name brand one. Good luck, I've been loking for 3 months & haven't found one yet. Thats my 2 cents, & I'm not talking through my hat, I have almost 30 years of expirience as a mechanic! Thanks! Later, Dudes! |

That intercooler is for all out race applications. Very nice, but almost $2000! Is this one for sale?

Becuase it is twice the size of the "normal" intercooler! And as I said, $2000. To much $$$$ for the average street driven car.
By the way - A WARNING TO ALL! - the guy selling it is a massive jackass! I bought 4 items from him. The total weight of all 4 was about 50 pounds. He absolutly REFUSED to give me any kind of a discount on shipping! He wanted $165 to ship those 4 items! DO NOT BUY FROM HIM! HE IS A JERK! I told him to stick it! This is proof right here. He wants $185 to ship it + $10 for insurance! He's on crack! Dont buy, unless you like paying his rediculous shipping fees! Heck, I can buy that intercooler NEW for a couple hundred buck more - but WHY, I'm not making 1000 WHP. He's a RIP OFF! |

And this thread is neither the time or place for making a grievance about a seller, it's sole purpose is to discuss intercoolers. Quote:

HEY PHOENIX, whoops caps, ummm the picture of the core you have for the arc intercooler is wrong, that one is an hks intercooler and the hks intercooler is just a generic picture. arc has the same "core" but has different endtanks with inlet and outlet on top like the stock intercooler

Gen3 swap DONE!!

size isn't the only thing important with a intercooler, location makes the biggest difference. Just because its $2000 doesn't make it full race. I've seen tons of over priced crap. You can get a trunk mount for a 1/4th of that price thats way more efficent.

If money allowed, i'd be tempted convert my greddy core to an A2W...purely because resale value of the "brand name" greddy kit has plummeted since all these replicas came about, and the money i've already put into it making it complete "kit". |

re
I have the engine cooling fan pointed at an angle where the stock ic used to be and as you can see in the pic the engine lid right above it is cut out. Also i have a 3" DP instead of the big ass stock cat bein right off the manifold holdn all the heat. Actually ive notice though when i get on it my engine temp guage goes down sometimes because the air is being forced though the ic soo fast, not to metion how thick the wrx ic is compared to the stock one.
