looking to go turbo, maybe...

hey, a while back i bought an mr2 off of one of the board members that has had a beams motor swapped into it not running. My original plan was just to fix the beams motor and run the car like that. Over the summer ive made a descent amount of $$ though, and was thinking it would be nice to have a little more power under the engine lid. What is the most cost effective way to make around 250-275 hp reliably out of a 3sgte???? (including doing the swap from a non-running beams to the 3sgte) Thanks

Edit: I'm mostly looking for the most cost effective way to get a 3sgte in my car without it taking me years to do. I can worry about upgrades later.

How much work are you planning to do yourself and how much would you send to a shop for?

What type of power band are you wanting?

Was the car originally a turbo or n/a model?

What is the condition of the wiring harness?

I suspect to do it the "right" way you could easily get into the 6k range once all is said and done.

As hookedup96rolla suggested, it may make more economic sense to get it running and sell, then look for a nice 3s mr2.

I'd be doing all the work myself. car was origionally n/a. wiring harness for the beams motor is in good shape. As far as the power is concerned, im looking for something that will drive around town nice, but i want it to get up and go if i toss it down a gear and step into it. I'm looking to do this as quickly as i can while still doing it right. I dont know if fixing the beams motor, selling the car and then buying another car will be the best way to do it time wise. I was thinking of just finding a 3sgte clip and doing the whole swap into the car i have now. Then i'd just sell the beams motor.

That could work. Just do your research on where to find the best clips, and what to look for. I would make certain you get a full body wiring harness (to front kickpanel) to speed up the process.

I used to have a na with 93 jdm 3sgte swap that I performed myself. With basic bolt ons the power was certainly nice. Whether or not I had a "freak" 3sgte I was able to easily pull from my friends Sti with exhaust/intake, and it would certainly put you in the seat

I wish I still had an mr2 *cries*
