Has anyone tried to relocate the airmeter after teh intercooler so that its getting that actual air reading after the turbo and not just metering this air that the intake it self is "sucking" in. The other way is called a blow threw system and is supposed to be better. Then you can mount the BOV before the airmeter and dont have to worry about lossing metered air. Although I herd that if oil is blown out the turbo and gets on the airmeter it will cause it to go lean and probably blow the motor

I think that would be a problem as the airflow meter we use isn't a hot wire type and has a spring loaded door in it. In theory, air pressure caught behind that door would most likely do unpleasant things over time to the mechanism.

Yes its the same type of setup on the 88 thunderbird turbocoupe I had and the merkur xr4ti turbo also. It has a flap do in it. Its called a VAN meter on hte turbocoupe. And people on forums for those 2 cars do it all the time with no issues. Actually some early Mercedes have the exact same kind of airmeter. I actually took the hose connector the screws to the side on hte airmeter off a old mercedes airmeter cause my new one didnt come wiith one, and I done sent my old core in. The was exactly the same. Not saying these 2 are but they are the same setup

How would the car run if the VTV was broken or cracked? What kind of losses should be expected?

man you guys with mr2s are lucky, my alltrac never came with a stock bpv. But im actually going to be installing a stock mr2 bpv, venting atmospherically. The only way to recirculate it is with an aftermarket straight intake..

the Stock BPV tends to hang open quite a lot and so may lead to running issues if you are still using the AFM/stock ECU.

anybody has the hks ssbov? is it the one that makes the wooo-woo-woo sound (like the 3 stooges guy) sorry thats the best description i could make.
thats the one i want. but ive heard clips of some of those and it makes just a regular pssssht bov sound on some. is it because of the amount of boost?

go on youtune and type in bov's. ssqv makes a high pitched squeel.

That synapse bov video is retarded. With the tial on they are barely moving and shifting very slowly, then with the synapse on they are going full boost fast shifts. Retarded.

I really like the design and concept of the Synapse BOV.

I do NOT like how they tested theirs against the Tial. I don't have any evidence to back this up, but I have a strong su****ion that they purposely used the wrong spring in the Tial Bv50, forcing it to surge almost everytime.

From people that run a Tial Bv50 with the correct spring based on their vacuum reading at idle...they've all told me they love it and that they don't get any ill effects from it.

Exactly. Ive been skeptical as I am buying a new bov. I dont know if I want to be the lone soldier in the mr2 world buying the synapse. Design and technology seems good, but the Tial is proven upon TONS of car groups. I might go with the Tial, not sure yet.

anybody seen jdm insider the first or 2nd one with the verossa? has the woom-woom-woom- sound from the BOV when air is released from it. anyone know what kind of BOV it is? the volume of the "woom" burts gets softer after every one. happens pretty much whenever he lets off the accellerator/shifts gotta be a BOV, right.

I don't know what the "woom woom woom" sound is...the only thing I can think of that has a "woom woom woom" sound is compressor surge, and that is not something I want to hear everytime I lift off.

I did not feel like reading through all 6 page's and if I am repeating someone else's reply I apologize. A BOV vent's under pressure within the intake system while the stock BPV actually increase's it hold on the intake charge until the load is released. Thus that's why you get better throttle response from a BPV than a BOV.

A "bypass valve" has nothing to do with holding pressure tighter, it's given its name to "by-pass" air pre-turbo directly into the charge pipes; hence it is "by-passing" the turbo. The SSQV is most certainly not a by-pass valve, but it's design is the same as the mr2 BPV in that it creates a tighter seal with increased pressure.

That's what I said but most likely not in the corecct terminology, thank's for the clarification.

It depends what kind of bov valve you want could be noisy or more quiet but they pertty much all the same just make sure you buy goood quality and do put one because if you run with out one you myte start to get compression surge
